OK, I was looking through the threads last week and everybody keeps saying
clarify to get rid of product build up. I'm thinking to myself, I dont know that I've every clarified before :nono:. Run to Sally's on Friday and pick up Ion Clarifing Poo, Denman :yep:, fake bun, and mango butter. Wash hair, seal ends and bun, next day SO tells me your hair smells like vomit. So I co-wash three times this week and he says still smells the same. Has anybody had this happen to them? :wallbash:

btw smells funny to me, but not like vomit :nono:

I am sorry but no that has never happened to me. Maybe its the brand you used, I use Nixion and it kind of smells like a menty fragance.

im sorry, and this is not remotely helpful to the OP but as soon as I read that he says it smells like vomit, i fell out laughing.

Since you've already clarified, you should be ok for a couple of weeks. Try washing with regular shampoo (if you use it), then go ahead and deep condition for like 30 min with a really good conditioner and see if it smells the same.

Try very diluted baking soda with water, and rinse that through your hair and scalp , then moisturizing with something that smells really good

The baking soda should get rid of the odor

was it a bad batch of Mango butter?

it should smell really good like fresh yummy Mango's, if it doesnt smell like that, its bad

yeah, you could do the baking soda instead of shampoo. but yeah deep condition afterwards. then check the smell. poor chile. walking around smelling like vomit. It could be a combination of the things used. i dunno sugar pie. you may only be able to rule out what caused it by a process of elimination.

like a paste or watery?
The more watered down the less stripping of moisture its going to be, but it will absorb odor:yep:

like say a tsp or tsp and a half of BS with lots of water , put it in an empty shampoo or condish bottle, (16 oz or so) and work it through your scalp/hair

thanks for the tip, im gonna try it tonight

might have been a bad batch of the mango butter. old mango butter can smell like blueberries, morning breath, or poop. the fresh stuff smells like mangos. or it might be the ion shampoo. i love ion's serums and finishing products, but their shampoos and conditioners are pretty crappy, in my opinion.

Have you ever used these scents before? I mean, what oil are u using to seal? The combo, mixed with your own body chemistry may be causing the odor. Not every scent is compatible with everyone and if you are combining different fragrances, that may be the culprit also. I know for me, I can't wear anything that smells like grapefruit.
