MAGNETIC ROLLERS/love hate them

Wow i was doing so good with my hair my first set backmy hair in one little place on the side is broke off.BADerplexedAS SHORT AS before I STARTED TO TAKE CARE OF MY HAIRAND THE MAGNETIC ROLLER IS THE CAUSE.you cant tell but i know its there. i want to cry now all this hard work gone.i even use endpapers.i dont know what happend?i am going to pin curl from now on. i wont sleep with them on the side of my head i just order some satin rollars. i am going to have to baby that spot I dont think it will grow back fast cause look how long it took me to get to where i am at nowps this have never happend before when i use them when my hair was much shorter.

Wow I'm so sorry to hear that! I've discovered more and more my hair just cant take rollersetting, I can't pinpoint the breakage I get from it. I notice it when I take my hair out of the rollers, and even when I touch my hair throughout the day. I think for me I have to stop because I fear a set back as well.

Hopefully those who have some success with it can help to figure this out.

I'm sorry about this setback! I love my magnetics and have never had a problem...and I've been rollersetting a very LOOOONG time...I even sleep with them.

Let's see: Did you pull the hair too much when rolling it up? Was the roller too tight against your scalp? Is your hair in proper protein/moisture balance? I know these things will lead to breakage.

I hope your hair recovers quickly.

i think i have the protein/moisture balance down right.but you could be right about it being to tight when i sleep in them. cause its only in that one spot. thankyou for your in put

I'm sorry this happened.

This same thing happened to me but I assumed it was from wrapping because it happened on the side where the hair is being wrapped in the direction again the growth.

For me, it's on the left side, in the front. No one can tell it's there because my hair is long enough to cover it but when I put my hands in it to 'evaluate' it, it's very noticeable.

But now you have me wondering if the rollers were the culprit. Hmmmmmm.

hope i dont have to give them up. but i will i order some satin ones i will check them out before i give up for good.

The only thing about the satin rollers I don't care for is that if you're not really careful while you're rolling your hair it can get caught in the clasp thing.

And I found that endpapers can make it a little more difficult to roll your hair. Although that might just be me I'm not great at rolling my hair yet.

This same thing happened to me but I assumed it was from wrapping because it happened on the side where the hair is being wrapped in the direction again the growth.

But now you have me wondering if the rollers were the culprit. Hmmmmmm.

The same thing happened to me. It was definitely from wrapping in high school. My left side was much thinner than my left. There wasn't much breakage, exactly, just a huge increase in shedding that made it thin out because it was wrapped against the grain.

I cross wrap or do big loose pin curls now and my hair likes that a lot better. After over a year of not wrapping, my left side still isn't up to par with my right though, but at least it's getting there.

This is just my thoughts but if you are using the magnetic rollers that you have to use the clip pins with that could also be causing the loss of hair. I purchased a huge amount of those rollers and don't like using the pins cause I have noticed that sometimes my hair would get stuck and sometimes it would snag. What I do use when I rollerset is the snap on magnetic rollers. It is to me much easier to roll without using those pins on each side of the rollers and I also can roll my hair alot faster without them as well. Maybe you should try those. Just a thought. Hope it helps!

I love magnetic rollers. it's the only kind I use and I sleep in them every night. I have been using them without any problems for nearly 30 years--since got my first relaxer. Since I recommitted to taking care of my hair after joining LHCF, one of the first things I did was go back to roller setting my hair every night--on magnetic rollers!
