I wanted long curly hair!
I really don't want this to be any sort of a race thread...
But I noticed, that when women tend to reminisce about their childhoods, with the ol' pink towel wrapped around their heads, and tossing it over their shoulders, it's usually because they wanted to emulate the long hair that caucasian women with long straight hair. This is also what a lot of black men tend to tell us too, even when it's curly weaves or extensions that we're wearing at the time - and say that we feel racially inferior
erplexed.
But I just realised - that although I would agree with these childhood memories of the fake hair flipping, I wasn't thinking necessarily about a head full of luscious blonde hair. I wanted to have Scary spice's hair, Tia and Tamera's hair, and Rudy and Denise Huxtables hair. Much like the hair of women already on this forum. I guess that's just shifting a few hair types from 4c to 3b. I think I just let other's opinions get in the way of my memory.
I used to want big curly hair that would fly behind me on rollerskates, and hair that I could tie up and leave in a huge messy teenage bun...
So what does that then mean? Does anyone else realise that they felt this way?
