Whats stopped you from being WSL? I know for me it was heat and slacking on protective styles. Which in turn caused major dryness and breakage.

What are some of your mishaps? Also what do you plan to do to change it and become WSL in 2009?

PJism and Iron deficiency! I have been SL for the last 3 years. I think I made it to APL for a hot minute but then PJism hit and I was back to SL! :wallbash:

My hair just grows extremely slow. I'm in the APL challenge for 2008 and I don't think I will make it but I continue to strive. Slow growth is what I attribute it to.

I've never tried to get there, but the interesting thing is when I first became a member nobody wanted waist-length hair, I don't think we thought it was possible. Bra-strap length was the ultimate hair goal at that time. I think once many people began achieving bra-strap length people decided to put themselves to the next level.

Well i have big chopped twice since i became a member, once in 05, then again in april of 06, and had a few trims since then, but i hope i can get to wsl nxt year, that would be great. I think being consistent with my vitamins and k.i.s.s with my hair has helped me alot, thanks lhcf!

going natural included a BC from apl to neck length and 2 years worth of trimming knots out of my hair.

So I'm going to blame that.

If I'm not BSL by Dec 2009 then I have nothing to blame except me.

I don't really want to be WL. That's a whole lotta hair.

I think I've been a member since mid-05, but I joined in mid-transition, and did a BC to 5" in 06. Since then, I've gotten just past BSL and then got lazy with maintenance (not deep conditioning or detangling regularly), so I've sort of stagnant around BSL for about four months. I'd hope to be between mid-back and waist (these are all stretched lengths) in the next year or so.

Overprocessing, cutting, and problems detangling my hair. But it looks like Wen solved the detangling issue.

Well, my hair doesn't grow 2 inches a month :giggle: so that it'd make up for wear and tear from not keeping ends protected ...and I think genetics play a small part :look: ...but the main culprits have been the setbacks stated in this post.

I GASPED when I saw how short your stylist cut your hair. What the hell was she thinking?!

I've been here since 2003 and cut my past shoulder length hair to below earlobe to cut damaged ends off and have a fresh start.
Thing one - I was diagnosed Anemia in 2005 when I was mid blade... hair breakage.
Thing two-mistakenly burning my ends :perplexed.... trim
Thing three - not combing shed hair after a weave hence, a HUGE matted mess on the top of my head which took 4 days to get out with help...no joke. .....breakage and cut
And my most recent, protein overload...cut at least 2-3 inches
I
I am bitter.......:lachen: nah i'm disappointed in myself, because I haven't gotten to brastrap yet let alone waist however. Even though waist wasn't my goal, I'm sure I'd be there by now looking at all the waist lengthers here. :yep:

Infrequent, but deep trims.

Whenever I got them I would cut 2-3 inches at a time.

PJ-ism also made me slack with the growth aids. I only used them enough to see results, then I found something else and the cycle continued.

I'm at WL now, after...*counts* 3 1/2 years. I started my journey January of '05.

Beacuse I don't want it. :look:

I've grazed WL several times, but each time, I was disenchanted with it and felt like BSL was more appealing and more manageable.

So, I'm a blunt BSL now, and I'm happy with it. I may start inching towards WL next year, but for now, I'm enjoying keeping thick ends and trimming at BSL. :)

I went natural and I cut off a lot of hair when I cut the last of the relaxed ends off. But I'm happy with my progress so far. I'm almost at my goal; two or three more inches and I'll be there.

Hair boredom, hair neglect, iron deficiency, being pregnant twice (postpartum shedding), texlaxing (my hair hated and stayed tangled which led to damage), and vitamin deficiencies (poor diet).

I dont want to be waist lenght, but mid back will be nice. But I have decided to focus for the next 12 months on healthier mind, healthier body and healthier hair.

Although my goal is not WL, the reason I have not reached my goal IMO come from a mixture of stress, not properly doing a BC when I went natural and not properly knowing how to wash my hair. Yes, as my mother puts it, I do not know how to wash my hair correctly.

the bolded are the reasons I didnt even make shoulder. :ohwell:

She would have bought herself a beatdown.

That dont make NO SENSE AT ALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!

dang, what was the "STYLISTS" explanation?

Well, I didn't know just how bad things were until two days later. You see, all this was done away from a mirror (Goes to show you how naive and trusting I was!) so it wasn't until she said, "There you go!" (and held up a mirror) that I got to see my hair. Instead of shingling, she had done finger coils--a style I had never seen before and which made me almost gag. I had gone there expecting a bouncy style when I left but had instead got this yucky do. In horror at how ugly it looked, I asked "That's it?" and she assured me that the style comes to fruition in two days, "when the coils fall and become bouncy". So of course, I ignorantly assumed I still had some length hidden there. Maybe not as much as I had going in, since I know she'd trimmed some, but definitely not as little as I discovered when I loosened my hair. Needless to say, no bouncy coils ever showed up two days later. In fact, I was sure I would have locs if I had waited for them to ever show up.

I would have ripped the salon and stylist apart!!! That is ridiculous!!!! :nono:

I'll remember to take one of you with me if ever I lose my darn mind and take a chance at letting anyone touch my hair. Don't plan on ever doing it, but y'never know.

Man what she did was crazy. :( I've had finger coils and what she did to your hair was NOT finger coils. I'm not sure what that was. But when I had my finger coils they did loosen after a few days and become longer and bouncy.

She just deceived you about her hairstyling skills and may not have known how to handle your hair texture. Did you go to a natural hair care salon? That's where I went for my BC and when I got my finger coils put in.
