Ok im choosing to research these products in a simple way.. asking for opinions. I hear MTG stinks, itches like a christmas sweater, and is not recommended or trusted to be left in the scalp longer then 15 mins. cost $6(small bottle)

I hear MT smell better, feels great on the scalp, and can possibly be left on until your next co wash. cost $25

Basically i have done my research, watched videos, read LHCF threads. Now i just need some girl to girl talk to figure out which one i should go with first.. :yawn:​
 
If I wasn't sure which one to get, based on your descriptions I would just ask one question: how big is the MT bottle? And I have the answer! 16 oz and it can last a long time.... soooooooooo, that probably eliminates the price comparison. I use and recommend MT highly!
 
I too recomend MT. I have the shampoo, creme rinse and the cell builder and I love them all!! They smell great and have improved the health of my hair greatly. I also have a huge bottle of MTG in the corner collecting dust. I couldn't stand smelling like bacon so I didn't use it long enough to see if it worked.

No what you will be looking for has blue writing on the bottle and it's called Mega Tek Rebuilder.
 
Let's see.

MT smells like coconuts/pina colada.
MTG smells like freshly smoked bacon and old eggs (and I'm being kind).

MT is a rich, creamy, thick conditioner.
MTG is a yellowish, thin, oil.

MT works.
MTG works.

MT is about 1.60 an ounce.
MTG is about 0.75 an ounce (assuming the small bottle is 8 oz. If it's 6 oz, it's 1.00/oz)

MT might cause you to shed.
MTG might turn your jewelry funky colors (and your pillows, and your scarfs, and your car headrest)

If you are going purely for what's cheapest - MTG is your sure shot.
If you are going for what you are more likely to use over the long term - MT might be a surer shot.

Personally, I'm shopping around for a gallon of MT ..... and I just shipped off my once used bottle of MTG. So, yeah, I'm biased. :lol:

This is a bit off subject, but has anyone noticed that OCT which I really do prefer smells like manur? Everyone says that MTG smells horrible, and how MT and OCT smells so great, but I rather use the MT and the MTG over OCT because of the smell. Also, MTG IMO smells alot lighter than Glovers. If I can stand Glover's then MTG is ok too! Just voicing my opinion out loud!
 
Why is not recommended to keep mtg on the scalp for more than 15 mins? I remember way back when I was still a lurker people where leaving it on.:look: So this is news to me

I didnt know this but I leave mine on and it dosent affect me but MTG is like anything else, everything dont work for everyone but I personally do like mtg but I also know that doo grow work too.:yep:
 
I like them both but if you want to start out try MTG first ,it is cheaper. MTG smells but I didn't have a problem with it. I find that it was way too oily for my heavy hands. MT is better but the shedding is the devil.:heated:
 
why does MT make your hair shed so much? i haven't used it, but i was considering purchasing it, but i keep hearing about this infamous shedding. if it's so good, how does it make you shed and people are still endorsing it? answers, please...

i have used MTG in the past. whoa that smell... i think it works a bit though. but i was doing laundry like mad to get the smell out of stuff, so that eats up the savings you get from it being cheaper.

With MTG being oily I only use a small amount to oil my scalp and I have never had a problem with the smell because by morning its gone and I have never had a problem with it running or getting on my clothing because I only use a small amount, I put some on the counter and dip my finger in it and oil my scalp with it and it works wonders because a little goes a long way but thats just me.

i agree. i love mtg. it gave me tremendous growth and thickness in the past
 
I have had good results with MT, but I have been too lazy to keep applying (Maybe I will go on a hard core, 30 day application is September :) ).

I purchased MTG, took one whiff, and gave it away. I think the extra money you spend on MT would be well worth it.

It smells like pina colada and works.

I don't use it as a leave in but it has helped to thicken my hair and make it stronger so it can retain length...which makes it grow

It's worth the price and the bottle can stay fresh for 18 months.

Protein is good for your hair
 
if you're truly worried about the smell, go for the mega tek. it's worth it, and the 16 oz bottle will last you a very long time. it's not oily or greasy, and it smells fantastic (like an uber pineapple-infused pina colada). you can apply it to your scalp and leave it in, follow the directions on the bottle for a quick protein pick me up, or use a teensy bit on your ends for a bit of extra protection. i loved mega tek when i used it.
 
What about Sulu Max gro which is the human version of MTG. Made by the same company, they just imporved the smell according to the website. I loved MT, I'm just too cheap to buy more. If I go into kinky twist for the next 4 months like I think I am I'm going to be using Sulu.

I thought MTG was about $20 for 32 oz. I ordered MT for close to $30 and that was for 16oz.

ETA:

I loved the results with both. Yeah MT smells like pina colada and yes MTG smells like beacon grease but they both work. I just think with the MTG you just have to make sure that you use a little bit so that its not running down your face or neck; but with both products a little goes a long way. I ordered MT I believe in march and have used it twice a day and still have a good bit left. Also what I did was used a conditioner rinse (since I wear my hair in cornrows) every other day to cut down on any odor.

I think once my MT is over I will go back to MTG b/c I feel like my hair felt more moisturized with it..it didn't feel as dry.

But as someone already said if I were you I would try MTG first b/c its cheaper and if you don't like just try MT.

I just started back using MTG to get me to BSl by the end of September hopefully. MT gave me too much shedding. I put the mtg on before bedtime, no smell in the morning. I cowash every morning in the gym also.
 
I think I'm going to buy MTG and try it, thanks ladies! I got the small jar of MT and while I do think it works, my hair is protein sensitive and I didn't want to use this everyday b/c my hair was getting kind of hard. I love this site and you ladies are the bee's knees!
 
For folks who experienced shedding from MT: how much shedding and did that effect the thickness of your hair?
