Can your hair be described as texlaxed 4a/b?
yes.... but im forced to be texlaxed!

Do you regularly scarf your hair down while its still damp?
hmmmm ive never thought about trying this i usually airdry in a wet bun, braid, or a wash n go.

Do you try to do bantus or braidouts on wet hair?
i have no choice in the matter!

Do you wet your hair and let it dry without thoroughly combing out shed hairs?
if i want to keep hair on my head i have to!

a list of things that i CANT do to my hair:
* detangle in the shower with jilebre combs and "slip" conditioners
* "miracle detanglers" in a bottle jus do not work at all
* fingercombing dry hair before a cowash
* i cant rollerset for the life of me

Needless to say, airdrying helps me to keep hair on my head! Im still in the process of finding the least damaging way to keep my hair tangle free. Lately with my corrective relaxer on my last touchup(currently 9 weeks post) i am able to maintain tangle free hair as long as i stay on top of it. I had to finally find out that airdrying in a bun works wonders for my hair and now that i finally found the right conditioners that leave my hair soft and more manageable the detangling process is much easier than before where i had to do it strand by strand on dry hair which was a 3 day process, but im stuck right now, i want to have bone straight hair but not at the price of overprocessing....

OP...i just adore the stories of SO's that are involved in their partners haircare to me thats so romantic:yep:

I have 4a/4b/rosemary's baby type hair.

You have to detangle (gently) before you put your hair up to dry. If not you will have a mess on your hands. To further help with that, gently comb out shed hairs BEFORE pre-pooing/shampooing. A lady on here posted it and after thinking about it, it just made sense. If you don't, those hairs are going to wrap around and get tangled into the hair that is still attached.

I mostly air dry because heat's bad for my hair (if overdone.) I've found that lo-mani doesn't work for me if I'm washing and air drying and alla dat jazz. The ONLY way it works is if I braid it, weave it up, or use heat atleast once a week.

This is what I learned to do for MY hair....

1. Pre-poo. Slap some conditioner up in that piece.
2. Wash. DO NOT PILE YOUR HAIR UP ON YOUR HEAD LIKE THEY DO IN THE COMMERCIALS! That will LEAD you to have a hot tangled mess. Focus on your scalp and not your hair. When you rinse the shampoo will clean the length of the hair shaft.
3. DC (It's a must for my hair). I use WEN now but prior to that I used HE's LTR with castor oil. Then slapped on a plastic cap then went on about my business. When I was ready, I rinsed.
4. Apply leave ins.
5. De-tangle GENTLY with a shower comb (DO NOT RIP THROUGH YOUR GRASS) then seal with oils. If I needed something heavy I used castor, if not then I used a little bit of EVOO or coconut.
6. Put into pigtails/bantu knots/flat twists....whatever's the flavor of the day... and add a bit extra leave in to the ends.
7. Slap on a silk scarf and go head on.

My hair used to mat something FIERCE while stretching. I never understood it. :wallbash: It caused me to have so many setbacks. Now that I'm co-washing on a regular basis, removing shed hair before washing, I haven't had that problem in about 6-8 months. :)

Hope that made sense.

I learned this the hard way. I did this twice and lost sooooooooo much hair. lol @ rollersetting. I can't either.

ladies:

what are the best conditioners/solutions for 4b hair--that is 12-15 weeks, past relaxer?

detangling is a nightmare, for me, at this stage.

P.S. Your S.O is a good man.

I have always air dried since joining this forum but I detangle in the shower while my hair is totally saturated with conditioner. I have not encountered any problems yet.

RZ~

Yea, I tried the lo-mani thing and my shed hairs were getting tangled on my strands and caused my hair to knot up....NOT GOOD! I detangle each morning now
