In hair purgatory
has anyone been able to pull this off without using a twist out or some other method to strech the hair. im talking straw, penspring ans smaller coils here.. i wish i could but all i have are buckshots.

My dd is a 3c 4a/b mixture (I suppose) and she has the prettiest, most defined pen spring size coils when I prepoo her w/ORS Repleneshing, wash her hair in 4 sections w/CON red label and use a shower comb to detangle then apply Pantene R&N Mask on a section before moving on to another. I rinse out ea section, apply La Bomba rinse and vatika oil and make 4 twists then put her under the soft bonnet til she's 95% dry. I take out the twists, have her shake it and go. I rub a bit of castor oil into her edges and put on a headband. HTH!

Most of my coils are smaller than yours.

As a natural, I can pull off the tendril look, but I would need a lot of length to counteract the shrinkage factor. I'm thinking at least collarbone length for the front.

I think your hair would look good as tendrils right now though. A little gel on damp hair and it'd look fab :yep:

the hair where i usally see tendrils(infront of the ear and at the temples) are the parts that have broken off to the NG for for now they make buckshots. i wish i could see some pictures. but thanks for the input

I just tried this last week. Try gently blowdrying your roots after a wash and condition. First shingle the hair with a leave in or gel, I use Fantasia IC gel, then take sections of hair by the tip, and blast warm air at the root(no comb on blow dryer). Do not blow dry it dead straight. It helps to elongate your curls and combat shrinkage:) HTH

I can form tendrils. It happens without manipulation on the front of my hair because of a lack of shrinkage, but I can also do it by finger curling those areas I'd like to "tendril" with some gel. My coils will form tendrils too, but they're very shrinkage prone.

Tendrils come with length, is what I've found. The longer the hair, the more it stretches - and all a tendril is is a stretched out buckshot.

I might try this.

What is "CON red label"??

Do you have any pictures of your daughters hair like this?

Man, I would so like to do the tendril look. I haven't found the right combination of products...I know I could probably do it if I denman brushed my hair in sections...but I really dont want to take all that time doing my hair and it only last a day or two. (that is if I put it in a pony tail or bun on the second day...sigh...)

what are tendrils?
the wispy hair up front and at the side of the ear are called tendrils. these are what im mainly talking about

but there can be ,more than one in only one area or all over the place like in the following examples

I thought I knew what you were talking about...but I think imma need a little more clarification.

:morepics:

tendrils are just wisps of hair. They usually frame the face. im sorry for giving bad examples. these are what i would consider tendrils

ok so thats what tendrils are, I always wear tendrils then, when i put my hair in a pony or a puff..

wow, definitely didn't know that is what you were referring to...got it. So I definitely thought they were just little small coils, like coffee stirrer size or something...

I get mine from finger coils. My hair will work with ot without product. I switch up between jane carter twist n lock & tresemme curl milk.
