Tingle, Tangle, My Hair's Growin' Already! Challenge...

due to Virgin Hair Fertilizer....okay, i'm exaggerating, but my stylist recommended this product to me after she whacked 5 inches off...go figure?erplexed Anyhoo, she says it will make your hair big and long...Dominican speak for thick and long. So I did some research and came up with mixed reviews, esp bcs the product has petroleum in it...

But, I decided to go for it and look for it at my local BSS. Get this, it was all sold out, and the Sales person, is like, we can't keep it on the shelves, so I get ta thinkin' this must be hot and no one is hip to this yet on LHCF! How could it be? So she sends me down the street to another shop and they have it in - only 2- in the small tubes, I grab one, $7 bucks and run home and apply....it is very, very light...not at all like some of the negative posts i read...my scalp is a tingling, tangling sensation of wonderfulness...for your hair to be greasy, you must be applying a bucket load of this to your scalp...no,no,no,no,no,no ...a tiny bit goes a looooooong way!

Therefore, I want to do a challenge...and yes, i'm using other growth aids, but i'm adding this to my routine...i'll apply this in the am and use my other mix at night...well, we'll see...

anyone with me? this is a Nigerian Product and is widely used for those who wear braids...i guess it grows the hair quickly, so the tightness and technique doesn't damage the hair...i don't get my hair braided, so...

man, my scalp feels so good!! I feel like I'm getting a shi-shi scalp massage in River Oaks or something...come, join with me, let's grow big, long hair together!

I was thinking the same thing. I wonder what herbs they use in the "herbal extract". This stuff should be easy and inexpensive to make.

My husband uses this product on his scalp. He has dread locks. I used it a few times when I had weave to keep the itchy feeling at bay around the tracks. It's the consistency of vaseline and has a very strong smell. DH also claimed that it was some miracle growth product but the smell kept me from using it long term.

I think I liked it better when I had my hair braided it help with itchy scalp.
I do remember the smell is kind of strong but scalp felt great.

A lot of great products can be homemade, that's a no-brainer, however, it has herbal extracts as an ingredient...but it doesn't list THE particular herbal extracts, so though you may be able to throw some petroleum jelly, lanolin, and peppermint together, you may be missing out on the key ingredients that make the product so effective...something to think about, huh?

Don't you ever wonder if all of these products we try to make ourselves list all of their ingredients, and if they do, how do you know which amounts of each ingredient make the products work as well as they do?? I'm a mixologist, so I feel ya...but just think about it....

i purchased the product yesterday from a local bss after church. i will take pictures as soon as i get a camera. i began using it yesterday. it smells like peppermint, and my scalp tingled until this morning...it really felt great, kinda like tea tree oil on the scalp, but milder. i'll use it daily. i just cut my hair to apl and will track the progress. i'll keep you guys informed. those who want to purchase it online, try ebay, i think i saw it there.

It's too greasy for me (I'm wearing my hair straight)... I've used it before w/ braids and loved the scalp tingling sensation, but did not see any other benefits so discontinued use.

seems like the tingling is coming from the peppermint oil, which gives me severe, painful headaches. i'll pass, especially since i'm not feelin the petroleum jelly on the scalp, but keep us posted

i used to use this in 2005 when i had constant braids,braided by my nigerian friends. i had to do my braids monthly because it grew out so...fast (i guess thats how they make more moneyselling the product to customers so we come back more often!

using too much gives you a headache, so yes a little goes a very looooong way!!

it is a nice product, before i joined LHCF my nape was really bad and keeping it braided and using this fertiliser allowed my nape to flourish

I know the scalp tingle is worth it by itself! It is sooo relaxing...I look forward to coming home and giving myself a virgin scalp massage i wanna carry it around with me and give myself touch-ups, but really it makes my scalp feel c-o-o-o-l..
