Ladies, I am a little confused on the cowashing thing. Is this washing your hair with conditioner only?

I am trying to obtain healthy hair here. I plan to do the Mega-tek challenge and deep conditioning. I wanted to clarify before I begin.

Help me !!:drunk:

Clarifying before your journey and every month thereafter is a must for most hair types. Youre absolutely wight about cowashing, it is rinsing/washing your hair with conditioner only. Some opt for a cheapie conditioner because of the frequency of use. I personally cowash about 2x a week with Aveda DR (not a cheapie). It seems to work great for me so far.. But i'm definitely still new to this.

When I cowash, I airdry. But then, I airdry all the time, so.... not sure if that's much help.

I used to blowdry up until 1 month ago.. I used to be addicted to everything bad...heat..grease..terrible.. But now I airdry with a flexirod on my ends, throw my satin scarf on and go to bed. In the morning its dry and I throw one of my wigs... Ready to face the world....

Hey Niecy! Welcome.

Yep, cowashing is short for conditioner washing. Clarifying is a good idea. Try to follow it with a moisturizing shampoo.

There are many ways you can deep condition.

You can prepoo (which is applying conditioner, oil, or some other treatment to dry hair). Put a plastic cap on, follow it with heat if you choose, to penetrate the strands. Then continue on with your regular wash routine.

Or you can steam, using a hot steam towel, or a steamer.

The most basic way is to clarify (optional or when needed), shampoo, condition (under heat optional), rinse, and finally use a leave-in conditioner.
