Me three!!! That was the second thing - no third thing I noticed! First, the shiny lovely bun, second the fabulous blue of those sticks, and third, that gray streak! Oh, I can't WAIT to get some gray!

No, most ladies here at least cover their grays. I personally think that gray hair can be very beautiful.

Years ago I once saw this woman with BSL, healthy, shiny, thick, mostly gray hair and it looked amazing... not aging in the least. Just a very beautiful, mature woman. STRIKING, I tell ya! I decided then that there is no reason to color mine when I start getting them.

So funny I found this thread. I was looking for bunning tutorials on youtube today. I am no where near the length for bunning but I know that is one protective style I would love to rock! I've always wanted to be able to wear buns! Can't wait.

First of all, THANK YOU, "N"; YOU always MAKE ME FEEL GOOD!

Here's what SA, sent me:

Hi,

Thanks for the compliment.

I make my donut buns by using 2 cotton socks and 1 silk trouser sock. It’s very similar to the way Sistaslick makes hers: http://public.fotki.com/sistaslick/m..._a/picbun.html The more socks you use the bigger the bun will be, hair length and thickness can also determine whether the bun will be big, medium or small. Buns can be a great protective style and they can help aid in growth retention, as long as you don’t make your ponytail too tightly and as long as you moisturize your hair ends especially before bunning.

*HTH*

WOW, thanks TD and Neith (again). You see, I had SO MANY people get on me for not dying my hair. Particularly the years leading up to my graduating ('05-'07), they were saying I'd be competing with younger one's for jobs and, job discrimination due to age, blah, blah, so I succombed. Well, I QUIT! Jehovah God said his people will nOT BEG BREAD, that among so many other scriptures, won't go into 'em now, that I am like, nope, no more, nada. Oh, and at a career fair at school a couple years back I inquired of several of the recruiters if my hair would be an obstacle to them considering me for a position. Now, they denied it and though I had folk tell me, "Of course they did"; you know what, I ain't sweatin' it. So, for about a year I've been like, "Brang it onnnn!" I love my silver hair and embrace it.

Thanks ladies.

Gotta go shower, co-wash, get to work, and GET ON LINE TO SEE WHAT YAW'LL DOIN'. ha ha ha ha. I'm christening myself the grandma of this group. Yaw'll can make it official ifn ya wanna (hint, hint); gotta keep an eye on my babies here.

Hugzz,

LL

Honey, I have been on a phony bun search ever since SA taught me this. I got a couple here in the City, but just yesterday I found the motherload on e-Bay. You see, I needed some salt and pepper ones and woooo wee I was a bidding fool yesterday. Hold tight 'cause you know when I get 'em I'll post photos. I like wearing 'em and doin' the baggy thing with my ends like I learned on a You Tube.

Have a good one.

Oh, ok. I feel you. Yes, i agree it is very striking. I just didn't understand what was meant when someone said "i understand why you do it" or something like that LOL. I thought LL was in a secret club or something :lachen::lachen: I feel like a tard now so i'll go to my corner

BEAUTIFUL!
I too am in love with your gray streak, it's so pretty. In my eyes, gray hair symbolizes wisdom.
Your hair is very pretty.
