So I'm using it now actually, and let me say it doesn't compare to my old school ceramic iron that I put on the little stove. My hair doesn't feel nearly as smooth. Or am I just doing something wrong? I had to put it on the highest setting.

Girl, I put that sucker on the highest setting last week and had the same results. My hair is so tightly coiled that I'm realizing the that I have to use a pressing comb to get my hair straight.

I have a Solia and the results are just ok for me as well. I have only used it maybe 3 times in the past 2 years. 370 is the highest that I have gone with it though. My stove iron gives me better results as well.

What products are in your hair and are you doing the chase method?

Same stuff I always used for a press, redken anti-snap leave in and the heat glide. Been using it for years!

What the heck is the chase method? lol

I think that's the same for me. My hair is THICK and coiled as hell now that I cut it!

Marie....that's why I had to whip out the stove. BUT would you believe my hair was still feeling different? It's like my hair doesn't want to get straight lol. I'm wondering now if I should have gone for the chi or the sedu.

Never ever had a prob w/ my Solias, I keep them on 300. Great results each time. :)

What are you doing before you flat iron, what products do you have in your hair? That has alot to do with your results as well.

300...are you relaxed? I'm not and I had it on 370...my hair LAUGHED at it! lol I had to crank it up all the way and it still isn't straight as it could be.

I use my Solia on 370 to straighten my roots (4a mostly). It does a good job, when you pass over a little section of hair while pulling the iron down firmly.

Yep!! So I think it was more of my technique, I added the chi silk infusion and the heat protectant to my hair, then use the solia and clamped it down more firmly. I got a better result. My hair isn't as slippery as it was with my old school iron, but I can dig. I may still experiment with other irons too.

I use a fine comb instead of the brush. I've heard of others using their Denman. I think it really comes down to preference.

Oh I know what that is. Eh, it doesn't make a difference if I do that or not cause I comb comb comb before running the iron through my hair. Incidentally I did this chase method today and it was really no different than the way I do it.

I'm guessing cause my hair is so tight it feels this way. Onto the sedu! Seriously, I wanted to run by my stylist's salon today and use his chi on one section of my hair to see if it would make a difference lol.

But he was busy. And my request was sort of outlandish so I just hopped on folica.

Waitttttttttttttttt I just tried it with the brush and big big bigggggg difference!!!!!!

Good!! I flat-ironed with the brush last summer and my hair came out GREAT. All of my knotted ends had disappeared and my hair was bone straight. I just messed up because it wasn't 100%(maybe like 98%) dry, so it frizzed up a little the next day.

I'm going to do this method again on Friday.

i got that when i used ours on my mom

BUT

a week later i tried it again and i blow dried her hair first using the stretching thing that pinkskates does. it must have been the heat drying instead of airdrying, or maybe the more liberal use of sabino mb, but the second time her ends came out perfect.

Just to add more to the mix, I started using my ojon restorative on the next section of my hair. BIG HUGE PATOOTIE difference. It's silky just like the old school iron! So I guess this is trial and error. I may go over the right side of my head when I'm done. Hell, I'll even post a picture.

Thanks ladies!!!

The solia never impressed me. I gave it away to a friend of mine. That iron didn't even get my relaxed hair strait.

I'm noticing the more product I spray on, the straighter and shinier it is.

I hope this thing doesn't ruin my curls though, I would die.

I think the chase method would help :yep:.

I have a Solia also, and while I do love it, my ends sometimes remain "rough" and don't get as straight as the rest of my hair. I now have the maxiglide too, which has teeth that help with the ends to get them smooth.

Try the chase method with the Solia, using a fine-tooth comb.

Um, can we get some details? You just brushed your hair before running the flat iron over it? Did you perform the comb chase method but with a brush? What kind of brush did you use? C'mon, out with the details . . .

First after running a comb through, I ran my boar bristle brush over each section then followed the exact picture posted here.

Maybe I can take one later for you.

I think the Chase method is to use a fine tooth comb down your hair shaft and follow it (at the same time) with your flat iron. The theory is that the comb separates the hair and enables the iron to straighen better. Is that right Eisani?

I saw a brush in the picture.

Comb didn't do diddly squat for me. The brush was a mirrrracle! I think I have to go back over sections with my solia tomorrow. It seemed like it frizzed up a bit. But I usually have to do it two days before it's how I like it. My hair is so daggone thick!

It never impressed me either. I sent it back and ended up purchasing a Sedu instead. I get better results.
