I'm curious because I was looking at someone's pics and at 4 months their new growth was like little spiral.....very cute, its like curls up in there....I've never seen that and it made me wonder....

For those who stretch or transition even if you don't but you can see your newgrowth at some point.............

Does your new growth spiral ?, lay "flat" ( ie, big or small waves waves) ? knot or tangle together or not that noticable several months?

please describe :)

Ok, I have stretched up to 12 weeks in the past ( 3 months) my hair has small waves but I've never had a spiral like twist in my hair......I thought the picture I saw was quite pretty...... I wish I could pst the pic but I don't want to without permission

My vote Small waves

My NG varies Fotki has turned gay on me so I cant include the links!!!! GRRRRR!!!

I've never had my NG tangle... It depends on the manipulation, wet my NG is spirals and S shapes but dry and combed it's just waves of various sizes.. The baby hair on my neck back always spirals.. The shapes just vary and have done since about the 4th month til now (9th month)

Thanks for your response.....I guess my hair varies too but for the most part my hair is the same............my edges and kitchen huh; that's another story......... I get the loops by the 4th month for sure..... especially back of neck

The middle and sides of my hair stay the same.....

At first big fat clumpy waves. It looks "flat" like I don't have new growth for the first inch or so. After i get about 2-3 inches I get "kinks" in the wave making it look like a lazy spiral and still more fat clumpy waves. My nape and and hairline are tightly coiled.

my hair makes coils that look like cylinders. i have a few renegade curls on the top that just flop. all around my hair line are buckshots galore

ohh I hope she doesn;t get upset:blush:

I just thought her new growth was so cute and soft! So I compliment ya girl!!

BTW......If you see this; are you able to stretch easily?

My NG around the perimeter of my head forms spirals like that, but they feel dry at times. The NG at my nape is like wavy/kinky and tough. The NG at my crown
is mostly wavy. I wish all my NG could feel like crown NG, then I could stretch for like 5 months easy.

I have only noticed in the nape area the new growth being curly the new growth in the front really doesn't look that much different from the rest of my permed hair nothing special.

Cool, thanks for the pic! Have you stretched long?

This is what the majority of my new growth looks like. Except in the very center...where it seems like my hair is something straight out of the jungle deep. :lachen:

I haven't permed in like 4 months not planning on perming again either so I guess that's the stretch so far lol

My newgrowth is tiny little spirals. Mostly 4a tiny spirals, a few bigger spirals in the back, that's the 3C and some of my hair doesn't clump an make perfect sprials, that's the 4b.

I love to feel them, they feel much more coarse, strong and defined than my texturized hair.

I never have wavy newgrowth. After 3 weeks or so, I can feel those hard little peas under there

My newgrowth doesn't give me any trouble. I'm about 3 months post relaxer and there is no difference in detangling.

I can stretch forever, lol. I was going for 4 months, but I think I will end up trying for 6 or maybe more. There really is no need to relax at the moment.

I'm going to have to go natural one day! lol

The only thing is that because of how much it shrivels up, it makes my hair look shorter at first.

Small waves at the middle and pretty tough shrubs at the front and nape  I wonder what causes the difference? Maybe exposure to natural elements? (wind..sun etc.)
I could stretch for months if my all my NG was wavy!

I'm a little confused by the poll. I guess I would pick twirls but I wouldn't say tiny spirals. They look like tiny curls to me. I'm a 4a if that means anything.

Mine is exactly the same. I'm transitioning right now, but I was natural for awhile up until 5 years ago. My hair on the edges did not grow out like that the first time I transitioned. It all grew out wavy. I don't know why my edges are doing that this time around.

Reg's Wife looks like my hair sister.
Anyway, same here spirals, but I have 4b no wave patches at boths sides in front.
It is really strange because its on the same area like, outside of that area everthing is spiral curls.
Mine does tangle though, but mainly a tips, where ther is single strand knots, but not too bad.

edit- Neith I feel you, this is the only reason I am considering texturizing. I have a lot of shrinkage with those spirals. At the moment locing the caramel treatment I did tonight, it soften and stretched out the curls a little bit

I voted: twirls :)

My ng is the tightest little coils that tangle and dread if they aren't detangled regularly. They are very resistant to relaxers and very thick.

I can't even stretch past 8 weeks or I will loose tooooo much hair from the ng tanglin' with my relaxed and other ng.
I love them tho when I go natural when I'm much older I will enjoy seeing them grow all the way out.

I'm relaxed. My new growth comes in as small waves. Because I airdry and don't comb dry hair my hair is wavy most days in my bun. I love my wavy little bun on a daily.
