I am transitioning now. this will make one year for me. I really need some support. I am trying to keep my length. Can someone please give me some encouragement and if you can post a pic. It will really be nice.

Thanks

I'm about 2 years into my transition, and I'm not chopping because I don't want to lose my length. You can see my pics in my siggie. If I'm wearing my real hair, I usually keep it in a bun.

I don't have any pics because it was years ago but I transistioned with braids. There was no way I was going to cut my hair.

I'm transitioning now. Just 13 months into it, but I don't plan on BCing anymore. I love having my length right now and want to see how long I can get it to go. If anything, I'll BC when my natural hair reaches full APL.... but likely I'm going to be transitioning eternally. I don't trim often.

17 months here- I am planning at cutting at the 2 yr mark, which will be in April :yep: I did do a few mini chops along the way though. I'm not planning on cutting again til next year.

Just about made it through the summer, which is the hardest, IMO. It's now the home stretch.

Agreed.

I only did one mini chop and I probably won't do another

Pics are in my fotki.

I am in month 9 of my transition (started 12/30/2007) and I was ready to chop off all my relaxed ends this weekend after having MAJOR trouble at the line of demarcation. I washed 3 times since nothing worked to give me enough slip. I ended up doing a rollerset & flat iron instead of the planned blowdry & flat iron.

Although I want to chop off the relaxer, I promised my husband that I would not cut off all my hair. I want to be full BSL (natural) before the BC. At my estimate, that will be in another 24 months.

I also don't want to lose my length but I also don't like the constant struggle with my drastically different textures. My advice (and also what I intend to do) is wear curly styles often so as not to manipulate the hair and for straight styles, try a wig.

Im on my 21st month of transitioning and i also plan to go on eternally. wash and gos dont work for me b/c of the texture differences, but braidouts work just fine, so i'd recommend doing those..good luck!

You should check out MissMarie's fotki. She transitioned for more than 3 years. And caligirl transitioned for 2 years.

Yep. :yep: I like length and I will cut my relaxed hair when I'm ready, which may be in 2010. My natural hair will be at least full APL before I get rid of all of my relaxed hair.

Yep. :yep: This is month 12 for me and it will be at least 24 months before I cut anything. I am not ready to lose any length. Styling isn't easy with my bone straight relaxed ends and my type 4 new growth, but it's worth it.

I transitioned for about 2 years. I basically wore braids the entire time. When I felt my hair was long enough, I cut the perm ends.
