Now i just want to cut it all off. I don't even have a regimne anymore, my dryer is broke so I can't really DEEP condtion, I just do whatever to my hair I have gotten real lazy! i am upset with my self because I am gonna have to cut alot of my ends off and suffer a setback all because I haven't been loving my hair like I should have been. i am also upset because i was sholder length in Jan. and I am still shoulder length in AUG. A lil bit longer shoulder length but damn I should have more growth then this. It looks like my dream of APL in 08 ain't happening. Even with the growth aides.

All I want now is my healthy hair back. I have breakage and shedding and I think the stretching had something to do with this. Not that you can't sucessful stretch I just wasn't sucessfully stretching. i am ready to cut it all off I am so frustrated. Somedays I think it would be easy just to go natural but the problem would still be there. I need to learn what works best for me I guess. Sorry for the long vent.

It's ok. We all have these moments. I have stopped measuring and don't even look at the back of my head anymore. I still use my precious oils and what not, but the thrill is gone...:nono:

Before you pick up the double blades....

How do you style your hair? Shoulder length has proved to be the most difficult length to keep healthy from my own experiences and reading the board. If you feel you're doing all the moisturizing, dcing, strengthing treatments but still see no positive results try bunning. At shoulder length hair I found myself bunning more because I was growing out a shorter cut with layers and I was just annoyed with my hair. Looking back I attribute this style choice along with a summer wearing braids to bringing me to APL. Once at APL, I was better able to maintain the moisture levels which led to more retention of growth. If you can just hide your ends for a few months more and see if this helps your retain growth.

I should add, I am a long time stretcher and I find with more new growth I must increase my cowashes to maintain moisture manageability and retain hair. I also manipulate my hair much less towards the end of my stretch and only detangle on wash days on damp hair with added leave-in. Good luck!

Well first thing first..............don't cut it off lol. The laziness sets in for most (if not all of us) at some point. When this is the case for me, I try to envision my hair swinging down my back and flipping and blowing all over the place. That usually gives me the inspiration to refocus and get back on track :)

You can DC by putting the conditioner on overnight. Find an alternative method. Don't let your hard work go to waste. Please be patient it will come. I had to cut all my hair off due to medical reasons and growth was slow. I first though maybe it would be okay short and then realized "I WANT LONG HAIR." If you want it claim it. It sounds like you are having a problem maintaining length, not with growth. I'm new to hair care but have always had at lest BSL length until recently so I know the hopelessness you are feeling. Find a good leave in to maintain the lengths until you can get back on track or a fab wig. I love mine. HOPE THIS ENCOURAGES YOU.

I feel like just cutting off my hair too. I'm sooo sick of my hair! :wallbash: My hair has yet to recover from the "weave disaster" last summer, and now that I've switched back to a milder relaxer, my ends look soooo anorexic and thin. :( I just want to cut off the whispy ends and start over with short neck-length hair. :-/

*sigh* I don't REALLY want to cut my hair of course, but since I'm almost 10 weeks post, I just feel the itch to cut off the ends since they're so thin. My hair has been shedding a LOT lately too. Seems like I can't keep hair in my head!

It's okay to vent - thats what we are here for. Plus - everybody has setbacks at some time or another. The best thing to do is relax and get back into the your haircare slow.

I think that we jump on so many bandwagons that we wear ourselves (and our wallet) out before we see real progress. Just go back to whatever you were originally doing to make your hair healthy (keeping it clean and moisturized). If it was just shampoo 1x a week, cowashing a few times, moisurizing, bunning - whatever, go slow.

Remember to also keep a journal and write down how your hair responds to different products so that you know what works and what doesn't. You and your hair will be fine and back to being healthy in no time.

O.k. don't despair. Number one don't cut. If you don't do anything else, do this.......baggy--Protect those ends. That's where you're going to get your length. I went through a phase where I wasn't co-washing, deep conditioning, or moisturizing. And I was missing in action from the hair boards. But I was also lazy so no matter what I had my ends protected in a baggy and I was wearing those daggone half wigs and phony pony's and guess what......I retained my growth. The number one thing you have to do is stay on the boards, that's where I get my motivation. But if that fails babe....baggy hth!

Don't cut it all off. Aren't you the one that had a baby a few months back? I think I recall you starting a thread on postpartum shedding. Just put your healthy hair practices back into play. I'm sure you can get your hair back on track in no time.

yes I had a baby four months ago. That shedding got better after my last relaxer. I feel special someone remembered me.

OK when you say bun do you mean like the donut buns? Or can I slick my hair to the side and throw it up in like a side bun like with my ends tucked but out a lil too....what is bunning exactly cause I'ma be on it.

Ok maybe I was a lil upset I am not gonna cut. Thanks for all the responses and for those of you that cared....awww... anyways lol I do need to get back on to baggying. In the beginning I cowashed everyday moisturized and oiled my hair and scalp and massaged it for 10 15 min. Now I jus do whatever. When I started seeing results I thought I had it made....well how quickly those results faded.

awwww :bighug: i'm sorry you're feeling discouraged.
i definitely don't think cutting all your hair off is the answer unless you really want to. just try to make the time to give your hair a little extra tlc (i know its hard w/ a new bambino - congratulations by the way) - but making time for you is also important.

:yep: most of the bunning people are talking about is the doughnut, but I put my hair in a loose ponytail and put a phony pony over it (you can baggie your hair in the ponytail and cover with the phony pony) HTH or if not just get some braids/weave/cornrow/half weave and forget about your hair for a few months just wash and DC once a week, and use some sort of moisture/protein spray (braid spray with Infusium 23 works)
