Now I remember why I don't take pics of my hair in its natural state

I totally feel you - either my hair looks dull, or it looks gray, or you can't see the details, or the flash overwhelms it and it's just a gleaming sheet of black (which ain't even my hair color) and you can NEVER see my texture/coils/waves/etc that I know I have..... *sigh* Yeah. I'm bout ready to set up a mini 'hair studio' just to get good hair pics consistently.



I bet someone has done this already, watch.

I see so many beautiful heads of hair in Foktis and here on the boards that sometimes yes I don't like taking hair pics cause my hair looks nothing like theirs!

I have a load of them in my digital camera though just waiting to be uploaded. I'm the queen of frizz and supposedly I'm texlaxed! I should start up a new saying like "texnatchal" cause I think I'm more natural than texlaxed - all the laxed hair must've reverted or somthing!

I know exactly what you mean! My hair looks so natural in my pics even though I have texlaxed my whole head and done two correctives (whole head)!

I don't like most of my hair pics and they definitel don't look like what I see in the mirror but I want to track my progress and I want to share my pics with everyone. I feel like it is only fair cuz I love stalking fotkis!

I thought I was the only one. My hair would look one way in the mirror, and when I take a picture it looks totally different. More like a HAM. That is why I decided to stop wasting everyone's time and shut down my fotki.

I'm right there with you. I hardly have any natural pics in my fotki. I try ALLLLLL the time, but they just don't show texture , shine, anything... just looks like a dark abyss!

ETA: I have a really crappy camera and most of my pics come from my cell phone so they may be why lol.

Try fiddling around with your camera settings!

I'm into photography... so a lot of it is just knowing how to take the picture. For a normal point and shoot camera, you probably don't have to be too technical.

For my hair pics, I put the camera on program, set the white balance and mostly work with the flash. Working with a higher ISO is easier. Setting up flash exposure comp will also help.
