Transitioners at what point did things get really rough?

Months 1-6 were hard, after that it was smooth sailing... till the 10th month. Then I couldn't take it anymore and had to cut it. I felt like I had a year and a half bad hair day.

Things really started getting dicey around 13 months. I chopped at 14 months, though my goal was to transition for 18 months.

If you're having trouble finding the Pantene R&N Mask, try the Pro-V Restoratives Time Renewal Replenishing Mask. Gives much slip and in some stores, it's a bit cheaper than the R&N (is that a hidden racism thing or what ) and is often on sale. Helps me when I'm many weeks post relaxer.

I like this. I bought this at Wal-Mart when I couldn't find the R&N Mask. It detangled my hair well - this was at 10 months post relaxer.

Can I just say please don't limit yourself to products made for "our" hair. Most aren't all that great. Definitely be willing to step out of the box. I have very few ethnic:rolleyes: products and my hair has done much better w/o them.

I was transitioning from I guess texlaxed (I relaxed about 4 times a year and it never really got straight).

Months 1-6 were fine..did what I always did. Months 6-8 were probably the hardest for me..b/c that was when I was still roller setting my hair or blowing it out, and the frizzies were really starting to kick in. Around that time, I started bunning in almost 100%..that lasted until about month 12. Ever since, I have been phony ponying it, cause my buns don't look right anymore with the two textures.

I am almost 16 months into this and am strongly thinking about cutting my hair into a bob and getting it done on a regular basis at a salon that deals with natural hair.

Let's see ... months 6-10 were the most difficult for me (I'm currently at 17 months post). That line of demarcation between the two textures was screaming the most during that time. Once I got past 12 months, it's been smooth sailing for some reason. It's probably because I finally got a handle on my moisture/protein balance.

I am currently 8 months into my transition and i thinking about relaxing! i'm running out of styles without heat, and i still want to enjoy my hair, i also seem to be getting broken strands anytime i wash. its getting harder i think, i was just wondering if some of you experienced ladies out there can give some advice and tips on how you got through it.

I'm at 8 months now and it's going fine. Last time I caved at 6 months. I'm not having any problems this time around though.

It was very rough for me after about the fourth month. i know now that I did not know how to properly moisturize and might have gone on longer with my transitioning, but I just finally went ahead and cut the relaxed ends off.
