ok correction its not softening water

but what ingredient(s) in it is treating the hair from the effects of hard water? whats the main ingredients doing that is my question , if anyone can answer.........

I might disolve some Vitamin C powder and try it, if thats the main active ingredient that is supposed to be doing the corrective work on the hair from hard water

EDTA is a ligand that forms a ring shaped compound with the hard water ions in hair so they can be rinsed out HTH>

ETA I accidentally right clicked on EDTA and all the other stuff came up. Not teaching chemistry here.

wouldn't Disodium EDTA and Sodium Gluconate both do the same?

I know that SG does bind to metals in water so its easier to filter the metals out. (but thats about all I know)

I have to use a product like this one because of my water quality.

The Vitamin C keeps everything pH balanced.

The Disodium EDTA and Sodium Gluconate are the chelaters.

There is a product at Sally's by Ion that is the same without the surfactants (That SLS, although the one there is supposed to be a mild one).

It is in a little packet. I think it is called Clarifying Treatment or something like that.

Citric acid is a chelator, so I suspect that's what's doing it, possibly.
