You won't be able to tell your texture until you've been natural for a while - and usually, even while transitioning, you can't get a totally clear idea of what your texture is until you cut off all of the relaxed ends....

Oh ok well I have a long way to go before then I just figured everyone knew what theirs was by going to some site that was posted on here with pictures as examples. But thanks for filling me in lol

Yeah but nobody knows their hair texture unless they're looking at their natural hair. From the pics I'd say your texture is relaxed:lol: Which obviously is not a texture. From your new growth you look like 4a. Maybe 3c/4a. But like JK said, you won't be able to tell for sure unless/until you're natural. Your new growth may not even be your 'real' texture because you may have scab hair. Think of it like this: What's the natural color of my car that's been painted over twice? Well unless we scrape off other 2 coats first we can't tell for sure.

agreed. I didn't get a pretty accurate idea of my texture until about 8-9 months post. And when i finally chopped, some of it still wasn't what i guessed.

Also in the close up...was your hair straightened? you have to look @ the roots unstraightened and unstretched.

Oh ok I get it thanks for breaking it down lol@relaxed texture.

ok it's been a lil minute anyone else have an idea? I'm curious to know so I can look up chicks with similiar textures so I can kinda get a picture of what it might look like after it's all grown out.

like previous posters stated i think its really tough to say. my guess is also 4a. but u really wont know for sure until months after the bc.

Excuse me I'm just impatient lol Here's another question if ones hair is neck length or whatever how long do you guesstimate it will take to grow out a perm?

Looks like a 4a to me too, am a 4a, the curl pattern is too tight for 3, but there is a clear curl pattern which excludes 4b

Thanks everybody I heard that when you still have permed hair it weighs your hair down or something so you won't know your true texture until it's out but I don't think it will differ much from what you guys are all saying thanks again.

Ok you know how when you're looking up different types of textures and they just show a chicks full head and no close ups to get a real picture of how it looks well I know I've seen someone say something about "s" and "z" curls defining a tex so here's another one. I'm obsessed I know.

I just wanna know what type of camera you have cause those are some CLOSE pictures all up in the hair follicles.

I need one of those.

You look like a 4a/b to me that's sort of my texture except I have some sneaking 3c hiding in a patch in the back :ohwell:. Yeah girl I want to know what kind of camera you got too though. Mine broke so all updates are on a stall. If you want to see what my hair looked like when i first started to transition (I'm in my 10th month) they are in my fotki. I distinctly remember a picture where I held up a few strands and you could see how coily and twisty it looked check it out if you want. It's okay to be obsessed I know I was when I realized I was transitioning not stretching! lol

lol I use a canon a560 but all of the canon powershots are good I had a sd900 wasn't feeling it but yeah canon all the way lol
