I had decided to go natural, and I was really prepared this time, but I just had to ruin it :( I got tempted to relax it and so I did, but that wasnt it, because my hair was healthy relaxed, the problem came in when I decided to use GENTLE TREATMENT

Why did I do that :nono: Why????

I usually use ors, and that works well enough, but I just had to be stupid :wallbash:

There is nothing gentle about it, my hair is breaking off as we speak, ive been embarresed to come in here and tell ya'll about it, it happend over 4 weeks ago now, and my hair is still breaking.. it feels so dry and almost like rubber??:sad:

I've never seen my hair so destroyed, its so sad, and I was doing so well on my goals reaching them all before due, and now this:wallbash::wallbash:

but this has taught me, no more of that creamy crack as some of you call it, im so tired of it, I want my natural hair..

Wish me the best guys.. this time im not going back..

I just needed to get out, thank you for listening :)

Awww... :( I'm sorry that happened to your hair.

I'm sure that you'll be back on track again soon!

Saida! Where you been, girl? I haven't seen you for the longest! :hug2: How's baby Saffiyah doing?

I don't recall liking Gentle Treatment either :nono: How many times a week are you deep conditioning? Two to three times a week would really help. Try joining the deep conditioning challenge, it'll make a big difference!

OH no I"m sorry this happened to you. Gentle Treatment sucks, I used this before. DC often and try to stay away from the heat. Your hair can recover, I would wait a while for the next relaxer if you decide to relax again. Have you tried a protein treatment?

I am sorry this happened. Your hair will bounce back. I also suggest Dcing. Also trying DCing over night. Does your hair need protein?

My hair hated Gentle Treatment back in the day as well. The funny thing is that I believe Isis who has absolutely beautiful texlaxed hair uses (or has used) Gentle Treatment with no problem, so go figure. (((hugs))) your hair will be okay.

gentle treatment was my first perm. used it faithfully for YEARS (like 10+). loved it. stopped and switched to lye perms because they are supposed to be better for the hair. went back to gt one day and HATED it. i think they changed the formula.

highly recommend a cheleating poo (it is slightly different from clarifying poos) to remove the calcium buildup so that you can deep condition better. i think nexxus has a cheleating poo.

then use a good deep conditioner.

Creamy Crack? OMG:lachen::lachen::lachen:. I'm sorry to read about your terrible experience with Gentle Treatment. I use Gentle Treatment and have been using it for the last 17years. I find that with any product we got to go for what we know. We have to stick with what works for us. So in the future I would use the ORS product you mentioned since it worked for you. If I were you my focus would be on recovery. I would use a reconstructor in my hair and shampoo/condition with products designed for chemically processed/damaged hair. If you would like some product suggestions, just PM me. Good luck boo!

Great advice. Sorry to hear that your hair is having issues, but it's nothing to be embarrassed about. We're here for you. :yep: (((hugs)))

When my hair was reacting to a bad treatment and breaking at the touch.:wallbash:
I just braided it in plats and put a wig on. I washed and DC once a week and then replated it and put my wig on. It was the best thing I could have done to reverse the process. My advise do as little as possible to your hair. I bought a half wig. Which looked very natural.. I just pulled a little bit of my own hair out in the front.. just at the hair line.

Your hair will recover soon enough!

this is why i am afraid to relax again, although i have never used gental treatment. i am sorry this happened to you. i would clarify or chelate and then do a 2 minute protein treatment (no hard core treatment yet) and then do a heavy (40minutes to hour and a half) deep conditioner. i would also recommend co washing everyday for at least two weeks straight. or baggy overnight 3 times a week. if you wear your hair straight alot then i would suggest mizani night time treatment every other night before going to bed. you use it like any other moisturizer and seal with oil. i love this stuff. it brought my hair back and stopped the breakage back when i was into relaxers and hard presses. it really works. i hope this help.

I'm sorry to hear this. I know setbacks are awful, especially since we work hard to keep our hair healthy. I think the other ladies have given you some great advice.
((((((((((HUGS))))))))))

Hey girls, thank your suport and advice, I knew I could count on you guys..

chelating shampoo I will try that, thank you

Tiffers sweety, ive been so busy with saffiyah lol, she is growing though, how is your little prince doing??

Sorry, Saida...so sorry this happened to your hair..We all do something we think stupid once in a while to our hair. Good News though! You know what you did wrong and will fix it..I hate Gentle Treatment..all I had from it many years ago was straw breakage after a few days of glorious swinging hair but was not hair wise enough to understand what was going on. Deep condition, get back to your natural hair.

Hopefully, your hair is not ruined. I agree w/ the previous posters... deep condition and co wash, often. Good luck on your journey to natural hair.

I know that transitioning to natural has been one of the best decisions that I've made for my hair.

I'm so sorry to hear this! I had a similar result with the so called "Gentle Treatment". I used it when I was in high school and let me tell you it burned up my scalp, edges, and forehead. I went to school with scabs on my forehead for about a week. I'll NEVER use this relaxer again. Some people like it, but my hair hates it. The gentlest one I've used so far is Soft & Beautiful's relaxer system. It even comes with oil packs so that you can mix it in your relaxer to make it even gentler. I've experienced no chemical burns and very little irritation with it.

P.S. Just nurture your hair right now. Do a protein treatment to help your hair regain some strength and don't comb it or manipulate it too much. We all have encountered situations that have set us back somewhat, but just keep giving your hair what it needs and it will recover and be as healthy as before.
