Thats like me and never clarifies and doesnt see/feel the need and their hair does just fine!?

I'm a dying breed?

I've only clarified once and it was nightmarish at best. I hate totally stripped hair! cant stand the squeak (oh the dryness kills me)

I have in the past, but since I became natural, no....unless that baking soda experience is considered clarifying. But I haven't used a clarifying shampoo ever since I was relaxed. It would make my hair bouncy and I would use it every few weeks. Girl I hate that squeaky feeling too! I even get it from regular shampoo too :nono:

yay somebody feels me! hehe

why strip everything just to have to desperately put it all back-i dont get it, my hair didnt do no better by being stripped at all-and those little peices of hair on the bathroom floor after :nono:

never again

The only thing I noticed is after all that hell my curls held a little better but ugh it wasnt worth all that!

I don't. Never have. But, I don't put a lot of crap in my hair anyway.
Same here. I never clarified. I like to keep my regi very simple....VERY VERY simple. A lot of the hair procedures that I read about here go straight over my head. I always ask my friend ( member locabouthair) about the protein treatments/clarifiying and all that but I never do it. She is very patient with me and explains anyways :lachen:

I've never done it. I don't see a need for it either- for my hair atleast. I just chalk it up to everything ain't for everybody... :yep:

yay responses! I swear around here it feels like you might be the only one! I think thats why I clarified that one time, so much talk about it, I thought I was missing out on something!

but nope! I agree it aint for everyone , not at all!

everything comes out of my hair with water, and CW's or Oil rinses and if needed , which is rarely , just a moisturizing shampoo

I aint feeling that squeak ever again

I have clarified once with ACV, to be honest I have no idea what that did for my hair at all:look:. I did not see or feel any difference, except my hair felt quite dry.:ohwell:

Me, me, me  I don't clarify. My one time attempt at it using baking soda scared the crap out of me! Besides that smell reminiscent of relaxer days, my hair became a rough, dry, hard mess. Never did it again, and we're talking about almost 5 years ago.

I don't know if I'd call what I did clarifying, but I used some cheapy poo that did make my hair feel squeeky clean and I didn't like it. My hair is already dry, I need to have something on it. That's the closest to clarifying that I've gotten. I don't feel like it's needed, unless you have oily hair. I think if you wash your hair regularly, you'll be fine.:drunk:

Yeah the squeak means it was stripped, I hate that feeling so much, leads to nothing but a dry tangly breaking mess!

I never clarify. When I feel like I have too much build-up I just shampoo my hair.

I did use the Apple Cider Vinegar rinse once and my hair came out beautiful and frizz free. I just hate the smell of vinegar.

I think it comes down to what people are believing is buildup. I never understood what having buildup on your hair is. I would assume it's when you have lots of product on your hair between washings, but if you wash your hair very well, how can you have buildup from shampoo- if you're washing out your hair well? A lot of people said that about CON green label poo, I just feel like it left my hair soft and feeling moisturized, but that may be someone elses definition of having buildup.

I don't clarify as the norm, but I will use my trusty AloeRid after swimming in the pool and of course, that is only in the summer months.

This is so true!

I used a chealting (sp?) shampoo on my daughter this past weekend because she went swimming and now her hair is dry and breaking. Her hair feels so stripped. I'm doing everything I can think of to put moisture back in her hair. I know won't chealte (sp?) or clarify on a regular basis.

I have in the past. I don't specifically clarify anymore. But I do use a gentle shampoo whenever I wash my hair.

Meeeeeeee, im here, i've never clarified - i've never felt the need to. Quite frankly the thought of adding that to my hair regime exhaust's me.

I chelated/clarified for the first time a few weeks ago and only because I've found that I actually have hard water here. Before moving to this area I never clarified or chelated. There was no need.

I don't clarify. I've done it like 3 times since learning how to take care of my hair back in January 08. I don't use anything that causes build up. My hair absorbs all of the natural oils I put into it. I make all of my own stuff so it's all natural, no filler. I bascially just rinse my hair daily. No soap, no condish, no clarifying, none of that. My scalp and hair are squeaky clean too. Every now and then when I use my castile soap I'll add a little baking soda to relax it a little. Other than that, nada!

Even "gentle" clarifiers are too harsh for me. If I feel the need to clarify, I just use my all natural shampoo bars, and even those feel too drying for my hair.

Clarifying makes my hair dry so I don't do it. Every once in a while I use baking soda, but that's directly on my scalp and not my hair. And I only do that if I feel like my scalp is extra oily or clogged or something. I definitely don't clarify regularly. I use Oyin's Honey Wash, which is castile soap based, to clean my hair and I feel like sometimes it gets a little too squeaky clean for comfort.

Nope, I like my hair with all the extra conditioner and moisturizer in it. Doesn't bother me.

I can totally get by with just rinsing too

the only thing that fixed my hair after clarifying was oil, get some kind of natural oil into her hair

Nope don't clarify. I rarely even shampoo, maybe once every three months. my hair does beautifully with just plain ol water, maybe a cheapie co-wash here and there.

However, I did do the baking soda rinse a few times in winter because I was terrified of breakage, and was slathering my hair down with castor oil to protect it...when I started waking up, a big oily imprint of my head on my pillow...I realized it was a lil too greasy LOL

I don't clarify any more. I use to long ago. I can't believe how much money I have spent on shampoos.

If this is considered clarifying, I use vo-5 Clarifying conditioner to co-wash once a week and use other conditioners the rest of the time ( 3 to 4 more times a week)
