That's what I came across on the site below. This is an area I need to pay attention to. Many times I only get 4 to 6 hours sleep and although I think I'm functioning ok, I could be negatively effecting my hair growth rate. In fact, I'd better go to bed now!

It's a known fact that to grow hair faster, hair needs an adequate amount of sleep (7-9 hours per day).

This is very interesting! Where did you read this from? I only get about 6 hours a night, sometimes less.

Thanks for passing this along Isis.

I will try to shoot for 7 hours...but like barbi...I get a lot less. I am truly an insomniac.

yeah i try to get at least 7-8 everyday. but it also depends on the person too my mom feels really refreshed and rested after 5-6 hours and if she gets anymore than that she feels groggy. Her hair seems to be growing fine. I notice that If i dont get enuff sleep during the week, my skin looses its glow and I break out.

I've heard that the older you get the less sleep you need. I been doing better on getting more rest but I have trouble falling asleep alot of the time.

I think this is true. Now that I think about it I used to get about 11-12 hours when I was little. I got sent to bed at eight oclock and woke up at 7. If I got that much sleep today I would feel like a zombie

. Nowadays kids seem like they dont even have a bed time. My bestfriend lil sis goes to bed anytime she wants and shes six. They wonder why she barely grows.

girl get some sleep!!!!!

That makes since. Sleep is a critical element of successful weight loss too, since it's your body's chance to recharge, recover and recuperate.
Without enough sleep, you're more likely to get sick, feel stressed, become depressed and suffer from anxiety.

So if you’re not getting enough sleep, knowing that sleep deprivation can contribute to hair loss may cause you to get couple extra hours

if you can.

my hairdresser would always tell me this and I would be like yeah ok:rolleyes:

i think this is another reason why i only get 1/4 inch a month.

Do you have problems sleeping? If so what is your typical pattern. Do you have problems going to sleep, staying asleep etc....

I am sure that this advice falls along the line with overall healthiness. Eat right, drink enough water, sleep right, excercise, you know the drill. ALL THESE THINGS TOGETHER will help you in growing and maintaining a healthy head of hair:yep:

my problem is I'll be on LHCF and wont go to to bed til 1:30 or 2 and have to wake up at 7. So basically my fault.

Honestly, I always feel tired no matter what amount of sleep I get but i'm anemic, plus I need to detox.

 I can understand that. What other activites do you tend to do before bed?

If you always feel tired no matter how long you sleep, you might want to go get a sleep study done at a hospital. If could be a brain wave thing. For example, my little brother doesn't get REM sleep. It makes him constantly tired and he can't dream. His brain waves peak at all of the wrong times so he has to take medication and follow certain techniques. It has helped him tremedously.

hmm, a sleep study. Thats something to think about. Actually I temped for an agency that did sleep studies. I do dream though. But sometimes I cant remember them.

Before bed I, (in order)

surf the web
wash dishes
wash my face
brush my teeth
moisturize my ends
massage my scalp if im not lazy
watch some tv
and then sleep

Thanks Isis. Dang, I'm sleepy right now from going to bed late and getting up too early. Time to crank up the sleep.

Sleep not only helps your hair grow, but you feel better and look better. Getting enough sleep can prevent premature aging and wrinkles. Getting your beauty sleep is REAL ladies!

:nono: No no Loca  You need to give your mind a chance to decompress before you sleep. You need to start this an hour before you go to bed. Your brain gets into a state of hyperarousal when you watch tv and other things of the sort. You need time for you brain to shut that all off. Make sure your room is as dark as possible and cut off that tv.

Now that my children are older - only one at home - I try to go to bed before 9 and sleep until 6a.m. People laugh because I love to get my sleep. I can record sitcoms and watch them on the weekends.

Is it ok to read a book before bed? I have a hard time sleeping too.

Oh Wow! I can't go to sleep without the TV or the radio being on. Mostly the tv. If someone turns my TV off, I will wake up and turn it back on:grin: I have to go to sleep to background noise:look: I wonder why I do this? My SO hate this but I tell him, I was like this when I first got with you, so you know the biz. LOL... Yall, got me thinking now. I'm going to try to go to sleep oneday soon without the TV being on!

Reading isn't as bad. Also, no alochol close to bedtime either if you have problems.

They call it noise and light pollution. We in these modern times have it bad. Even though you don't feel it directly, the constant noise and light from tv's and the like stress you out. The light from the tv also interferes with getting good quality sleep because light inhibites your pineal gland which secreates melatonin. Try eliminating the tv first, them work on the radio or atleast change the type of music and the volume.
