So, I would really like to find some moisturizing conditioners, moisturizers, sprays, etc. that do not contain DRYIING alcohols. Anybody have suggestions? I think ORS Carrot Oil might fall under this category if I remember correctly. Any suggestions? Thanks girls! :yep:

Are you interested in store bought products or would you prefer to handmake some of these items?

Are you sure you aren't mistaking good alcohol for bad alcohol

Good alcohols help to make a conditioner moisturizing.

Okay then. Here's a few things you might want to try.

Store Bought or Bought Online
  1. Back to Basics Leave-In Conditioner/Detangling Spray
  2. Suave Tropical Coconut (good for cowashes)
  3. Suave Humectant (good conditioner)
  4. Shea Moisture Leave-In Conditioner
  5. Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose (Shampoo & Conditioner)
  6. Elasta QP DPR - good for deep conditioning
  7. ORS Hair Mayonnaise is a light protein, but can be very moisturizing as well; just add honey and some extra virgin olive oil to the mix
  8. Dark & Lovely Leave-In Styling Mist
  9. Qhemet Biologics Alma & Olive Heavy Cream - excellent moisturizer
  10. Qhemet Biologics Burdock Root Butter Cream-excellent moisturizer
  11. Qhemet Biologics Olive Cream Conditioner & Detangler - excellent conditioner and detangler All Qhemet Biologics Products can be found online at www.qhemetbiologics.com
  12. Oyin's Honey Hemp Conditioner - very good conditioner for some; can be found at www.oyinhandmade.com They have some other pretty good products, too.
  13. I haven't tried their products, but I've heard a lot of good things about the moisturizing capabilities and the wonderful smells of the products found at Hairveda http://hairveda.com/default.aspx The almond glaze and the whipped cream looks particularly nice.
Handmade

  1. add olive oil, honey, coconut milk, to any deep conditioner to increase moisturizing effects; olive oil and honey on their own can do a good job of conditioning the hair
  2. Shea butter, mango butter, almond butter are all great moisturizers. Just melt a little in your hands and spread onto your hair or, if you want, mix it with a few other natural products and create your own personalized moisturizer
  3. handmade leave-in spritz: water, veggie glycerine, aloe vera juice, coconut oil, a couple drops of essential oils (rosemary, tea tree, lavender, or peppermint) use daily and seal with an oil for good moisturizing effects
  4. The website www.motowngirl.com has A LOT of good recipes for leave-ins and conditioners that moisturize, clarify, etc. You name it and she probably has it featured on her sight
  5. Oil rinses are a good way to get moisturized detangled hair as well. Just check out this thread on LHCF http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=150965
Hope this helps.

I'm sorry it's so big. I had some problems changing the font, since I just copy/pasted from my "All About Hair" flash drive. Yeah, I'm lazy. Sistaslick also has an article that talks about good alcohols or fatty alcohols in moisturizing conditioners. I'll give you the link.
