Ok, so I'm looking at my hair line and I remember about 4 years ago I got my hair cornrowed by a chick, and my edges, particularly on one side, haven't been "healthy" looking since. I am not trying to walk around looking like Naomi Campbell. I've tried BT, and am wondering if there is anything else I should be doing?

-- and I did order the OCT Hair System.

I'm in the process of trying to 'SORT OUT' my edges and I would just recommend trying not to brush this area too much, keep up with the moisiturising and keep using some sort of topical growth aid. I'm using Ayurvedic Elixir and its really helping.

 (prayin for ur edges lol)

not sure of anything else you can do besides just take extra care of those edges and hopefully they will fill in.

yea not much help i know lol.

:lachen:LOL this thread title has me LOL. Girl, my edges on my left side need prayer too. It's looking rough and i see NO sign of immediate improvement.

I can't do BT, I saw my sisters allergic reaction and punked out. I am still trying Castor oil, rosemary & Pepperment EO AND i have recently bought a tube of Nexxus Vitatress Biotin Creme.

I gave myself until Agust to see some kind of improvement. August will be ONE YEAR since i noticed my edges.

After that, i gotta see the dermatologist and work on an extensive prayer plan.

I dont want to spend too much more money on over the counter stuff cause I know when i see my dermatologist, she's gonna make me break the bank for prescriptions for the issue.

 for our edges with you girl!

i will pray for real, cuz i have no other good advice but i always feel bad for women trying to recover from damaged edges.

my left tempal thinned out after i got into a tussle with someone while i had braids :-(

whew! talk about my feelings being hurt...

...but this might work for you as it did for me. go to the dermatologist and get some shots or you can take an oral med to get you growing...

Shots? They shoot you up now for hair loss? What kind of shots? And what price range are we talking?

I already spend a mint trying to keep my clear skin in check!

Have you tried doo grow growth aid or wild growth. I had a ball spot in the middle back of my head in March and I have about 2 inches back there now. I cant rememer which Doo grow i used but it did help the growth.

I would not recommend shots, unless you have a form of hereditary alopecia. I have alopecia, and I am suppose to get my shoots once a month, but i rather have the bald spots then get the treatment sometimes. Its painful, they give you a shoot in your head and once I get a shoot i usually get light headed, extremly tired or have bleeding from the scalp. Irt cost anywhere from 70-100 and to me not worth it.

You and me both. My edges are finally filling in some, but i have a long way to go. Years of wearing micro braids really took its toll. :nono:

I had the same problem about 1 year and some months ago what worked for me using castor oil/coconut oil on a regular basis on my edges. Also I tried not to pull on my hair alot. I tried to wear loose buns and hairstyles to keep my hair from being pulled. Also not relaxing my edges helped also because my edges are really fragile. I also had to stay away from satin caps that were too tight because they would rub my edges and cause them to break.

Good luck with your edges, hopefully it will work out for you.

:grin:Well mine r really thin. I get really self ocnsious bx right now my hair is only 3 inches long and shrinks really bad trying to cover those really thin edges that u can see the scalp through is really rough.

I have tried everything. Miracle grow help the side that was the thinnest grow but the other side went really thin as if patches just fell out. I think mine came from years of relaxing and starting on the hair line and then working my way in instead of the other way around.

A friend of mine used the rogaine but that u have to use for the rest of ur life and I know I will forget. Right now I am trying the mn mix with sulfar. I have only been using it so far 6 days and I am hoping and praying this will work for me. My 1st mx in Jan. gave me a headache but I change the mx n it is working really good. But sorry so long I will be praying for all my thin edge sistas.

U know I have also looked back at my family and none of them have that problem no one on eigther side has it just me. My mom and my sister have hair that grows really fast and they can do anything to it. My dad sides grows slow and thin like mine but they have no problem with thinning edges.

Not usnderstanidn how to use and over use of relaxers, dyes and bleaching has caused alot of my issues. Years of abuse begains with years of healing.

Add me to the prayer list. :yep:
My edges are so thin and I have tried everything. I don't tie a scarf anymore, I use a loose bonnet. I am using MT and it's making the rest of my hair grow but my edges are pretty much laughing at it. We shall see. I haven't gone to a dermatologist, I feel like he/she is going to tell me that my hair is never going to grow in that spot. :nono:

Yea, we'll all pray for each other. The edges aren't horrible, and they are filling in but I saw (lauren450's) and I was like, Hmmm... and noticed mine aren't as full. Then I remembered the traumatically tight braids that chick did.

I'm thinking of getting cornrows again (sick of the wigs), but I don't want this to happen again...

I'll pray for your edges. Mines are starting to fill in. I used BT, but it breaks me out. So I used ORS balm, and Dr. Miracles, and I leave them alone. I also have seen an improvement when I don't relax. I get braids tomorrow, so I am praying during that process. I will tell her not to braid tightly, and even leave some hair out(I can gel that down.:look:) But, I will pray for everyone here who battles that!

If you're trying to grow them back in, I wouldn't do cornrows. Even when they're not super tight, there's still tension on that hair. I would leave it loose for a while and really focus on babying that area.

I had temple issues as well, and massaging religously with WGO helped a LOT. They're coming along nicely, and I anticipate thickness by Christmas.

My edges aren't as thick as they used to be either...i think this is because of contant tight weaves...

I have been using nexxus biotin creme...does anyone else have this issue and whats working?

After first pregnancy I used Nioxin Follicle Booster, after this last one I was using MN,MTG and Megatek. I got more results from Follicle booster so I'm sticking with that.

I used to be the LF Queen and thought it would be a great idea to shave back my hairline to achieve a better "stick" ( bc I work out everyday). So anyway, I stopped wearing them for a minute, to grow my fragile hairline back. I used MN and babied for a good month and noticed a difference. Now my hairline is back to normal and its only been about 4 months. I know how many Ladies feel about "growth aids", but MN sure worked for me.

I recommend applying castor oil or coconut oil to the edges, no braids, and if you put your hair in a ponytail try not to make it too tight. Oh and don't use too much gel either. And also.. LOL just kidding that's enough for one day.

Thanks for the tips.

I do admit I think putting tape on the edges to have a great line on the lacefront a few months ago did not help the situation, but I'm currently taking a deep breath and maintaining the full wigs and chilling with the OCT system and taking MSM/Tang shots.

I really considered doing that too but immediately thought it would be very counterproductive to what I am looking to accomplish.

Stick to the same product that you been using. If you perm ur hair perm that part last or not at all. Leave the gel alone if you apply on the side. Dont add aany stress on the hairline and you will be fine. I know what ur growing through, went through the same thing

girl - mm- let's not talk about edges please. look at mine below:sad:

Let's bow our heads..

Father God in the name of Jesus. You know us better than we know ourselves. The bible says that every head on our hair is numbered. God we believe that the original number you gave for our heads is more that we have right now Father God.

God we are pressing toward the mark of the high calling of full edges. Father God, please do not let us labor in vain. Let not our edges wither and dry up like the fig tree oh Lord. Let our edges produce and multiple and be like the tree planted by the rivers of water oh Lord.

Father God in your son name Jesus we believe that the olive oils and all of the other things that you have created in the earth will be a useful tool to aid us in our well doings Oh Lord and we ask you to help us in Jesus name. Amen.

My Left edges STILL need prayer! But i'm helping it along w/ my newly purchased Mega Tek and I scheduled an appointment w/ my Dermatologist next week.

This month marks 11 months that my edge/bald spot has been there so nothing has worked in those 11 months.

I need my doc's professional opinion.
