How can one attain thicker hair?

I did it and there were not many tricks involved. Good old fashion air drying and leaving my hair alone for days at a time. I would style it once a week in a low maintenance style and do some light smoothing in the morning just for neatness, but would never comb it until wash day. You will see a difference in such a short amount of time. I'm pretty sure there are some products out there that aid in attaining thickness, but I did it without any "special" products involved.

:yep:

Henna works, as does Mega-Tek. I've heard that castor oil works, but I've never tried it, personally.

What they said...

no product = would be no/low heat, low manipulation
natural product = henna
full on chemicals = MT

Yes, it is possible, and I have done it!:yep: My hair began growing out thicker after I began eating healthier, including more protein-rich foods. The hair that had already grown out thickened up after I transitioned from relaxing straight to texlaxing.

ETA: Oh, yes...airdrying!

Vitamins, eating healthy, stretching relaxers, coating previously relaxed hair with conditioner when you get your touch up, protein treatments, and air drying, not combing everyday.

I was trying to not go there with the Megatek, which is why I purposely have avoided the posts, lol-as I have some ish in my cabinets that I ain't used yet, yet alone buy another, expensive one. How are you all using castor oil, just on the ends or all over?...tip toeing to search on 'castor oil'...

I agree with cluelessaka on healthy eating.I've been eating balanced with plenty of healthy protein/EFA's and I've been switching up my styles.I think fad dieting thinned my hair out somewhat. Also, after my I did a nice healthy trim my hair seem to thicken up.

I can't comment on the no heat thing,I've been using heat 2/3x/month and my hair is still doing just fine.

Pure castor oil?

The one by hollywood beauty has something in it that made me put it back .
I cant remeber what ..
I think its in the bad product thread thats on here.

Focus on the new growth. Forget about the growth that is already on the head if it's thin, there is no way to bring that back. Yeah, there are products which give the illusion of thicker hair, but that is a quick fix. Work on the new growth, so that when it grows out you can gradually clip off the old thinner hair.

  • Massages
  • Scalp treatments
  • Low Manipulation

My auntie had success with it. I use pure castor oil. My hair is really thick and strong.

I add Polysorbate 80 and Castor Oil to my Deep Conditioners,Leave-in and use it as a pre-poo to thicken my strands.
I usally use Jamaican Black Castor or Heritage Pure,Cold Pressed Castor oil.
I found that adding castor to Suave Milk & Honey Conditioner for co washes worked better than any other conditioner I used to thicken my hair.
