DMDM hydantoin is a preservative that works by releasing formaldehyde into the product. (This is just ONE of the ingrediants listed on her Tui Leave-In Conditioner!) I did not even google the rest! Then I go to her website and it says "Beauty By Nature" What kind of nature is she talking about?? I bought two bottles of this stuff when I was away on vacation, now I am heated!!! :wallbash:

I know - huh??? I think she should definately change her marketing - because 99 % of her products are LOADED with chemicals.....:nono:

not surprised...I've learned that lots of so called natural products aren't so natural after all...I've heard that some lush products aren't so natural either....

I've never bought or used their products, and I never really hear to much good reviews on their products either. The more I hear about them, the more i stay away...

Hair product-wise, I only use Lisa's Hair Elixir from Carol's Daughter. I stopped by their booth some weeks ago and when I saw all the ingredients that I could not pronounce like DMDM hydantoin, etc., I thought to myself "Nope, nope, and nope." I like her Hair Elixir, but I doubt I'll be trying out other products any time soon...CD fell off.

ITA!
I grabbed a bottle of that citrus con at Trader Joes the other day without reading the bottle. When I got home I was mad. All kinds of parabens and things in there.
Even when it says all natural, you have to read it closely!

^^^^^because Formaldehyde is an excellent preservative. That's why its one of the best chemicals to pump into a dead body...to preserve the appearance and slow down decomposition.

I bet you are heated b/c her stuff is on the pricey side. I have a few of her products sitting in a cabinet collecting dust. can't bring myself to throw them away, yet I don't use them b/c they left my hair feeling terrible....

Sorry but her products suck major...just my opinion of course.

a song just popped in my head, I hear micheal weighing in on this....you are not alone, i am here w/you!
while my first 'natural' product was CD my last 'natural' product was komaza...Um, i'm just going to stick w/ regular ol' p's for now. just about everyone lie just to sell their product. and if you don't find out now, down they line, you'll find out then, about what's really in one's p's.

Yes they are soooo overrated, especially that Black Vanilla Leave-in :nono:

thats actually my FAVORITE CD product.... not because of what it does but because of the smell... as soon as July is over ( buy nothing challenge) Im gonna buy me some Nettles tea and make my own version

Yes they do. And they are OUTRAGEOUS in price for teeny weeny bottles.

NO thanks.

Actually - the only good thing they HAD - not sure if they still do - was the rosemary mint shampoo. I am making my own now - so I don't need her overpriced stuff....:drunk:

Me too. I don't know what to do with them. My hair felt nasty and matted up when I used it so I don't want to use it again, I wouldn't give it to anybody that I like, there isn't anybody that I dislike that much and I paid tooo much money to throw it away

That was the shampoo that left my hair feeling gummy.

Yep :yep: Besides "all natural" products did not work on my hair, :nono: probably cuz they don't have "mineral oil" and "petrolatum" in them :lachen: Anywho, I tried to give up on the "bad ole stuff" but my hair wouldn't behave with the "good new stuff" and so I just gave up and returned to the products that work for MY hair . . . *sign*

Depending on the product, if it says ALL natural I need it to have an expiration date or for it to say refrigerate after opening

OMG i thought it was just my hair!!!! all those raves over how great the products were (prior to me joining the board) i went out and spent $80 on products. i used 1 conditioner, left my hair all matted and hard feeling like it was locked. used the other one, didnt help one bit. I had to leave the house and run to CVS to get some conditioner just so i could comb through it.

that mess sat in my bathroom for 9 months until i threw it out about 3 months back. couldnt even give it away.

Ahhhh.... say it ain't so??? Maaaaaan, and I WAS so loving her products. What is up with that, someone should school her on natural preservatives, as much as her products cost she shouldn't be putting cheap dangerous chemicals in there. Other natural product makers have figured it out and their products cost as much as hers.

Wait, are you the one posting all those recipes for products that are similar to Carol's Daughter but actually using all natural ingredients????? *runs off to see* Tell me why I was at work copy and pasting those recipes into Word and went straight to fromnaturewithlove.com to order some butters with money I shouldn't even be spending. :lachen:
