I read on another hair forum that a natural used this, but she didn't go into why she did. I thought this was only used by those who use chemicals like relaxers or perm. color.

Any responses would be appreciated!

Blessings.

I've eyed it a couple of times, but the PJ in me never rose up and demanded that I get it :lachen:

Maybe if my hair gets really gnarly tangled one day, I might try it out....

Thanks, JustKiya. So, is that what its used for when your hair is tangled??? Ok, I didn't know that. Then, I wouldn't need it because I don't get tangles.

I still do wonder if naturals that used it, did they ever receive other benefits from it besides no more tangles.

That's what I've heard most people raving about it over, I thought - that it was like super slip and tangle free'ing...... :look:

I could be totally wrong, though!

idk about the tangles. i've never used it for that. its supposed to balance the PH in ur hair after chemical processes. It MAY also have benefits (like closing the cuticle tight to help with shine and smoothness) for naturals. I'm transitioning currently. havent used it in a while, and even then, i would mix it with other conditioners......
bump.....

hmm...i hope more people answer, my mom is transitioning and her hair tangles/breaks really easily. i can fingercomb her hair and i will pull back a hairball.

Sometime ph issues can excerbate tangling because the cuticle is rough (I don't really know a better word to describe it). When my hair is feeling really rough or absorbing to much product it usually means the ph is off. Porosity control really helps w/this. I use it every now and then. Sometimes I mix it w/my DC. At one point I used it too much though and my hair ended up mushy so only use it if your hair needs it.

Yes ma'am.It helps smooth the cuticle and melt away tangles(for me)I decided to try it after I read hair that is porous dries very quickly especially the ends. This sounded exactly my hair so I gave it a shot.

"If you've ever had any kind of chemical service done or if you're having problems with knots and tangles, you may want to give this product a try. I've never heard anyone say it did any harm to their hair, but I've definitely heard and read plenty of rave reviews. It works on straight hair, curly hair, wavy hair, and everything in between."

Thanks so much, ladies. And Ms. Lala....I appreciate you explaining it and that you use it at times.

Ooookkkkkk, now I get it. I think I may need some of this. My hair dries super fast. Right after I wash and condition my hair...it's dry in like 15 minutes. I always thought that was weird...but now I see why. Thanks for the link too...I'm going to go onto it right now.

Thank you so much ladies for all of your responses..thank you!

every time i pass Porosity Control on the shelf at Sally's, my fingers dance across the bottle as I contemplate buying it... i never do because i'm never sure if its ok/necessary for naturals... but now that I hear that it may help with tangles/knots and help seal the cutical for better shine and smootheness... i'm going to go ahead and pick it up next time!

i wanted to ask... are people using the shampoo, conditioner and the extreme packs? or just the conditioner and the packs?

TIA!

good question! AND I always meant to ask it. Because I thought the same thing and wondered if it would/could be beneficial to natural hair

Great question N&W. I had the Roux Porosity Control Conditioner in my hand yesterday while at the bss. I decided to put it back because I wasn't sure if a natural head should use it.

My hair dries very quickly and can become tangled easily. This product sounds like it will work for me.

I only use the condish. I like to stick w/shampoos that I know my hair likes, I have had too many bad shampoo experiences.

:wow: that's some puff you got there!!

My hair does not dry quickly, but it tangles something awful. I have always eyed the Porosity Control in Sally's. Without having seen this thread (I searched for threads on this conditioner), I picked some up yesterday. I plan on using it this weekend.

i use it every 2 weeks and i love it...it helps with tangles although i bought it bcos of my DRY hair issues...i have 4 B very dry hair....I dont use the poo, only the condish and treatment...i mix the condish, treatmment, elasta's DPr and cholesterol and DC with this mixture...results = soft hair....I think the treatment that only comes in the pack is the best...JMHO...HTH

Well, if this helps with tangles I'm all over it. Is this something widely available at bss or do you usually end up having to order online? Lots of my tangling is caused by knots, but I'll take all the help I can get. As soon as this buy nothing challenge is over . . .

did you test it out yet? Or did you post your results in another thread? Thanks.

Yes, I did try it out and I liked it. :yep:My curls popped more and were more defined after it dried. Also, my hair does dry faster now than before too. I only used it once and I'm going to use it again over the weekend, since I just came back from Jamaica and need to do a DC as well.

Yes. I've been using Porosity Control for over 8 years (since before I went natural). A first I was hesitant to continue using it since it was for chemical treatments. But honestly, I had already been using it weekly as my regular shampoo and conditioner with great results so I went for it. It still works great on my hair and smooths the hair shaft and seems to make other products I use work better.

What I usually do now is use ORS shampoo for the first lather, then Porosity Control for the second lather. And when it's time to condition, I put the Porosity Control conditioner on first then layer another thicker conditioner (Dove Intense Moisture) on over it.

This has worked great for me. :yep:

Also, I copied this from something I wrote in my fotki (when asked how do you know if you need to use Porosity Control):
Honestly I think that Porosity Control is meant for people who have chemical treatments done to their hair. It balances the hair's porosity (how open or closed the hair shaft is) and makes chemical services work better when used a few days before and after. But I've used it for about 7-8 years (since before I went natural) and it still worked well for my natural hair for some reason so I keep using it.

I think that if your hair dries out quickly after washing (doesn't hold moisture well) or the cuticle feels rough when you rub your fingers down a strand then Porosity Control might work for you. I'm not an expert but I hope that explanation helped.
