Please answer and tell me how long into your transition you are.

Just curious.

I'm 10 months into my transition, and if I book a job they may want to perm me. If they do, I'm going to have to turn them down. :ohwell::nono::ohwell: I think.
On one hand I'm thinking, it'll grow out. Other hand, i don't WANT a perm, and $1000 isn't enough right now to convince me.

Would you perm today for $1000 cash?!

Whimsy,

Couldn't you get it flat ironed? That way you can still make that money. :yep:

Oh hellyea supergirl, I flatironed last night, the gosee was today. the maxiglide (aka my boo) straightened it bone straight, it looked freshly permed. they didn't question it, but for the actual job, the stylist will be washing, cutting and styling my hair. They asked me at the first casting if I'd be ok w/ 'refreshing the perm' if necessary. I said maybe lol. i guess we'll see what happens if i book it.
BUT I just wondered how much would be enough for transitioners to go back. Def not $1000 i'm sure.

:swearing::swearing:why does it matter if your relaxed or not
people are just:nono: but id come with my hair done so they wont mess up yours

I would do it. That's about a month's rent/utilities but it took me 14 months to get to this point. I'd whip out a flat iron in a quick second if I needed straight hair again.

that was my first thought too, but it's for a relaxed hair product...allegedly.

so sexi... how much would it take to perm you? 2K?

Absolutely not ... a grand wouldn't even begin to cut it for me. Transitioning is a mutha, so I can't even imagine trying to go through this shizz again.

Oh ... and I'll be 16 months post as of next week.

I would've just told them I was transitioning and my hair was flat ironed. They probably wouldn't care as long as your hair was straight. Even though it is for a relaxing product, it's not like you was using their product anyway.

oh ok i see

um id probably do it for 5,000 dollars
id be fine with it because this time i would be able to transition for a year.
to texlax 3,000:yep:

Um... I would do it for maybe 10,000... seriously...
I put too much time and work into my hair
I mean my whole blog is about my long term transition
and then it will be about being natural...
so... nah... there are other jobs

But I thought that someone mentioned on here (more than once) that a lot of the women on the relaxer boxes were actually natural with flatironed bone straight hair? If that's true, it seems that it wouldn't be required to be fully relaxed to do a relaxer gig.

But nah, I'd wouldn't have gotten a relaxer for $1000 when I was transitioning. Especially not for a gig that wasn't going to be reoccurring. Now, if I was guaranteed a 10 commercial series/photo series, maybe that would be a different story.

I'm very frustrated with my transition and these 2 textures.
If someone paid me 1000 to relax my hair I would do it.

But I can see that you don't want to so I hope you are able to get the gig and just flat iron or press your hair.

Your hair is too pretty. IMHO, I don't think it's worth it. :nono: If the stylist they're using isn't versatile enough to work with your transitioning hair then I wouldn't chance it. Imagine how much damage may occur after you let them experiment with their products on newly relaxed hair.

So their product will only work for relaxed hair? :perplexed

At first, I was like, "heck yea!" What an easy way to make money," then after reading more into the back story, I am sure that I would not, simply for the principles of the whole thing. They don't respect your values, and they sure don't value your natural hair (fashion/beauty industry...what else is new...It's always about the way *they* want you to look). I mean in the end, its up to you. If this is a problem you forsee coming up again in the future, more than once, then go ahead and do it if you want to stay in that field. Otherwise, its not worth it.

Side note: I am only 1/2 into this transition, I have transitioned as long as 10 months before however.

Hey Whimsy! I'd be very tempted to (if the price was higher). I'm almost 4 months into my transition, and I thought I was in it for the long haul. But then I found this pic of my hair yesterday taken in March and well, it's making me rethink this whole thing. I'd like to enjoy my hair at BSL for a little while longer...I'm giving myself till the end of the summer to make up my mind. As long as you know why you're doing it...

welp, im a college student going to london in the fall. hell yes. i'd take all the extra cash i can get (especially since $1K is 500 pounds i didn't have before). i can just start over after that. no biggy =)

but if i wasn't going to london, i wouldn't.

as far as your situation. idk what i would do. =/

Heck Yeah, not only are you getting the cash, this job could also lead to other job opportunities. The good thing about our hair is you can always go back natural.

Nope, $1K really isnt alot of money, when you think about it (of course depending on your situation). I would *think* about it for $5K.

well im not a transitioner but!
I would texlax.. b.c some people dont know what that is..
so you wont completely be permed.. but
its a win win! lol
kinda of sort of.

Nope. $1,000 isn't enough. I wouldn't do it for anything less than 10,000 tax free and I would probably even turn that down.

That might sound harsh, but my natural hair is just a couple of inches away from being the length that it was before I transitioned. Besides, relaxers were making my hair come out in clumps and I'd probably have to spend that 1,000 dollars plus some on hair treatments or weaves. Not worth it for me.

DO NOT i said DO NOT GIVE UP YOUR OWN PERSONAL HAIR GOAL FOR ONE M-F'IN JOB!!! so it's about a relaxer? and??? if they can trick us usin weave and play it off like its the girl's real hair, they can use your "baby daddy" to straighten your hair and call it a relaxer! that $1000 is not compensation for the work you've done so far, nor the work you'll have to do! you'll be spendin it on products to take care of your newly relaxed hair that you'll basically have wasted time transitioning!

I would take $1000 and divide it by the number of months I had been transitioning, and then decide it that payment per month was adequate compensation for the time and energy I'd already spent.

SO for me $1000/6 = $166.67 per month. NO thank you. ESP after taxes. :look:

soleil - i love your calculation method! haha:lachen:

so it's a webisode commercial where a stylist will be washing, styling my hair and using the products (if i'm cast) i think that's the main reason why they wanted relaxed hair, so that it would be maybe easier for the stylist to work with?

Anywho, i hope i get it, and can pull the okeydoke on em, like... huh? i wasn't told about any perming:nono:..... and maybe they'll still use me! hehehe

well let them find a relaxed head then! there'll be other jobs! it's like men, if they cant accept you the way you are, *** 'em!
let me find out you relaxed for that one d*mn webisode! :spank:not even tv where most people will see it, but a WEBisode!:nono:

Naw, I'm completely natural at this point but I don't think I would have done it when I was transitioning. The amount of time and money I spent trying to get my hair right would be more than the $1000. I think it would have to be over $10,000 for me to consider unless I was in serious financial situation at the time.
