the weave specialist is told me to use this. suck it into an small eye dropper type of device and squeeze it in between braids. the testimonials on this stuff are too good to be true which usually means...

just wanted to ask those of you whom i trust (the ladies of LHCF!) any experience with it - good or bad. pix would be GREAT!

Waste of money for me.

Tried it twice--tried to revisit it a year or so later--still did NOTHING, and it stinks:grin:

Why did she tell u to use it??? If u need moisture there are waayyy better things on the market. And if its for growth.....same answer.

when i very first used it back at the end of feb 06 all the way to may, it gave me a total of 2". I was also rockin a twa, but my hair didn't get softer.

it didn't give me any more wild growth after that, but it did start softening my hair. the only thing i dont like about it is it starts to build up cause it's heavy, and it has minerals in it(calcium and such), and i didn't know about chelating at the time.

they have a wgo "lite" but i havent tried it

I never used it long enough to actually get results from it. That stuff stinks sooooooooooooo bad. That's why I switched to BT (odorless):grin::grin:

hmm...i knew i'd get the real answer if i asked here! yes, my hair craves moisture so she wants me to try to add some sort of oil (cuz she thinks it'd be easiest). what do you recommend that'd be waayyy better for moisture and growth retainment.

It's OK as a hair oil I've never experienced any growth from it. In recent years the oil is thicker and more pungent so I added mixed it with more olive oil.

It's ok, I've used it on and off so I don't know if it is good for faster hair growth, but it does help to soften my hair.
Hmm, my one doesn't smell that pungent :ohwell:.

Pros
Olive oil based
No mineral oil
Will do a good job as an oil, softens and seals moisture

Cons:
Smells funny - not anything too funky, but definitely funny
Doesn't make your hair grow if that's what you're looking for
At the end of the ingredient list there are minerals including calcium I believe - makes me a little nervous

Well, I wore sewins for about 8 months last year and for moisture I used
* ORS Olive Oil lotion in the bottle with the nozzle--I then added glycerin and a little condish to it. It was easy to apply with the nozzle tip

*Mixed up a moisture spritz with stuff my hair likes (water, glycerin, condish--simple)

My hair that was braided and the new growth was always moisturized and the take down was very easy.

HTH a little

I've been using it at least one to two times a week for 3 years. It's the best oil I've found to lock in moisture, but it does not cause wild growth. I would have noticed by now if it had.

1 and 2...ITA
3 i DIDN'T KNOW THAT....I KICKED MINE TO THE CURB

This product is not the same as it was back in the 80's. I don't know what they took out but it doesn't nearly soften as it used to. The smell is different too.

I absolutely love this oil, I have not experienced any growth from it however it does make my NG very soft. However more recently I've been using vatika oil spiked with peppermint on my NG, because WGHO can cause build-up on the scalp...which can be a beast to remove if you don't use shampoo like myself!!!

I like it, but mixed with castor oil and BT. I've also discovered that not all bottles of WGO are created equal when it comes to smell. I open each one at Sally's (yes, they stare me down:grin:) to find the one that's somewhat pepperminty and not as bad as the rest.
