Has anybody told you that they prefer your hair SHORTER than what it currently is??

Just curious...has anybody here been told by someone else that they think your hair looks better at a SHORTER length than what it's currently at...?

I'm only full shoulder length, and I look horrible any shorter than this. I was looking at my graduation pics from high school....I didn't realize it but my senior year I was neck length!! :wallbash: I got trims every 4 weeks...and I LOOKED A MESS! No one will disagree with that eitha.. Now when I get longer, I know my haterz will tell me I need to cut it, but I love it when they talk. They inspire me more

I get told this just about everyday. My mom constantly tells me she liked my hair better when it was cut in a bob like style. Even though its not long now, its much longer than how it usually is. I don't think she's mad that its growing, she just has her opinion, and she likes short hair.

I get told this all the time. When I get a long weave in, people look and a few glares by men:rolleyes:, but nobody really says much. When I cut it short, everyone seems to compliment me more. Even men, comment on the street. Close friends and family tell me they like it better. I use to think they were just hating, but when I look at pics, it does look compliment my features more. Even when I had SL hair, nobody really noticed. I looked kinda common.:perplexed I am hoping this time around it will become me.:yep: I will stay true to myself, nothing longer than SL.

And to be honest, I have seen someone who looked better with shorter hair. It depends on the features.:ohwell:

My sister. Whenever she looks at my HS graduation pictures, she says she prefers my hair at that length. I was about collarbone length.

Nope...good:grin: I do have friends that I think look better w/ shorter hair IMO. I don't think I would say anything if they decided to grow it out, to each their own...

I've had some girls in school to tell me that I needed to cut my hair into a really short hairstyle. At that time I was a bit naive and thought that they were being genuine, but I found out otherwise. :ohwell:

Now that my hair is growing a little longer, I hear NO ONE saying that they prefer my hair shorter. All I get are compliments and confirmations that people like me with longer hair.

When my hair was about to touch BSL a few people did mention that they prefered my shoulder length bob a year and a half ago.

Yeah I actually have heard that before!!!:lachen:My friends are so used to my short chin length hair now that if i do decide to put in weave theylook at me like im crazy because they like me with short hair but ima keep on growing ima lil past chin length right now but I want APL!So no matter what others say or opinion may be u gotta do what makes u happy first!!:yep:

I've had the Halle Berry short cut and my mother in law and several of her daughters (I have 6 sis-in-laws) say that short hair looks great on me. Mother-in-law actually said it took 10 years off my face:ohwell:. I think she was exaggerating but in any event, I LOVE a ponytail and nothing beats being able to cowash and bun in the morning.

My sister just told me that a couple of weeks ago... I sort of agree...I think I could go both ways...but I have never really had length so I am going to enjoy it.

My mom tells me this too sometimes! She talks about how now that I'm 27 years old (like that is sooooo "old"...whatever.... :rolleyes: ) that I should cut my hair in a more "sophisticated style". I had cut my hair 2 years ago into a short bob...the shortest I've ever had it. I liked it for like a week, but then got tired of it. I learned right then and there that short hair just doesn't really compliment my face frame as much as longer hair. Don't get me wrong, it looked cute, but I didn't get nearly as many compliments. :ohwell: I'm so glad that my hair has grown back. :yep:

Also, another thing....when I look back at older pictures (before my big hair cut) and see how my hair was growing and getting really thick 2 years ago before my cut, I noticed that I really liked the way I looked in my pictures. I was like: "what's changed??" And then I realized..."oh...yeah, my hair was LONGER!" Plus, people always tell me that they love my hair out and down. Maybe because I'm usually wearing my hair up in a protective bun or hair clip. :giggle: I get the MOST compliments from women (co-workers, women in the congregation, etc.), and the most guys trying to talk to me when my hair is out and long. ;)

So, I don't know if it's jealousy on my mom's part or what, but she rarely says how she likes my hair longer. She's usually saying how I should cut my hair into a cute "style" or something or another.

Another thing, since my hair has been growing in nicely and longer...my sister rarely says a thing about my hair. Hmmmm.... :scratchch

But I agree that some people just look better w/longer hair, while others just look better w/shorter hair. :yep:

:giggle: my mom does the same thing!!!!!! And i'm only 19,lol. I do like short hair, but i also like long hair and being able to have something to swing. If it was up to mom, i would be wearing a Halle style for the rest of my life.

I've also heard people say the whole go for a sophisticated type look. I just don't get that. Is long hair not sophisticated? :drunk:

No, no one has told me this, but I prefer my hair shorter than it is now. I have told some ladies here that have medium to long hair now that I thought they were adorable-er with short hair, ie Poorbear :love:

I don't believe this is an insult at all, it's just that to me, on our journey for long hair, it just doesn't suit everybody. Celebrities like Nia Long and Halle Berry look better with short hair vs long and someone like Gabrielle Union looks good either way.

Nope but that's because no one has ever seen me with short hair. I don't even think I would look right with short hair. I have a friend who looks so much prettier with short hair, but she wants to grow it long.

OMG all the freakin time, when i first started to grow my hair, my mom would always remark that she liked my hair shorter because it just didn't "hang" LOL..it was to short to hang off of my shoulders.
Now that my hair is much longer and i've learned how to style it, she doesn't make those mean comments anymore.

After I BC'd, a lot of people said they thought shorter hair suited me better than the longer hair. Even my dh, who didn't want me to BC, said he liked that he could see my face better.:yep:

I still plan to grow my natural hair to my butt. With shrinkage, it will still be short so everybody wins!:lachen:

I think longer hair looks better on me personally. I am still undecided as to whether it looks better shoulder length...as opposed to what it is now, though.

As for me, I've never had anyone tell me I should cut my hair or that I look better with shorter hair come to think of it...so I'm GUESSING that most people would agree that shorter is NOT the way to go for me. :look: Which is cool....I mean, I could rock a style around shoulder length of just above it, but anything shorter and I think I look kinda weird...:ohwell::lachen:

I was just thinking about Nia Long today...shorter styles are sooo hot on her...she just has the face and the features for it. She was in some movie where she had a longer weave in (it was wavy and around BSL) and I thought that it distracted from her beauty...

My husband would die happy if I would just cut my hair into some sort of chin length asymmetrical bob(think Gabrielle Union on the current cover of Essence). Most men want their women to have long hair, but not him.

I don't think I look better or worse with short or long hair, I'ma have a moon face regardless. My husband swears I looked hottest at the start of my hair journey as opposed to now...

I think people with short necks look better with short hair. Makes their necks look longer.
