I know some of you use henna instead of a perm color, and some have used a rinse. I am clueless about color. Learn me!

I am relaxed, 4b, and I need a relaxer touch up. I had planned on relaxing first, then in a few weeks coloring.

I'm wanting to go BLACK, I am currently brown. People seem to have a huge problem with me wanting to go so dark... I don't think it will be that bad. And if it is... hair grows back, right?

Suggestions? Things I need to remember?

I have used rinses and permanent color in the past when coloring my hair. Plus I went to cosmotology school and learned from my mother who was a cosmotologist.

Use a dark or black semi-permanent rinse doesn't last as long as going permanent so you would need to retouch with color about every 6 weeks. Permanent color last a lot longer but can be damaging if not properly taken care of. What you need to consider is once you got to black if you will be considering going to a lighter color in the future. I say this b/c black is a really hard color to go to a light. You would have to use a permanent color to get to a lighter color that uses peroxide to get to a lighter color.

I know some ppl have used tints to add some color to the hair but this only shows when reflecting light. But if you are going to black either semi (this is best when inexperiened with color so try this first) or permanent color will allow you to acheive this. If you decide to go lighter in the future L-oreal hilight colors is specially made for those with dark color hair (i.e black) trying to go to lighter colors. K.i.M that L-oreal hilight color is permanent and requries the use of peroxide and if you're not sure on how to use it then it's best that you go to a professional to get your hair lightened.

I want to lighten my hair a bit, It's too dark. But I know this is not in the cards. When a bit longer, I'll put in my long, lighter clip ons.

I have always had color treated hair because I have a lot of gray hair. Even this dark color isn't mine. I always color my hair 2weeks after I relax my hair. When I do have light color in my hair, I have to be very sure to add plenty of moisture and condition my hair on a regular. A nice brown would look good on you. Good luck!

where do you get the clip in colored hair? I always have to make my own highlight clips with weave hair and toupee clips.
