Why do people call it texlaxing? it's relaxing!!

I said something to the effect of this in one thread, and i think people were getting on me :ohwell:

I dont have anything against the term....But i think that it should simply be used to say that you are not relaxing all the and thats it, and then to go on about a hair regimen....

Sometimes it seems like some people treat/think its like a whole different hair conditon between chemically processed and natural hair.

But i just like things simple anyway, things like i have to do my pre-poo, then cowash, then deepconditoon, and my ACV, and Oilrinse are kinda like  to me....Im more like im going to pour vinager and oil over my hair, wash with condionter only....Dont like to overclassify things.

But, its just a thought, doesnt bother me or stop my day. *shrug*

That is why people use it. Texlaxed hair generally does have different moisture and protein requirements than people who process more fully so that is one reason why people put that into their posts when they ask for advice.

I really hate your peachtree! why do you have it in your signature? dont you know it irks me every time I see a post with it. its like your saying 'My Peachtree is better than yours" its not like you dont already know a peachtree is peachtree! so why you got a pic of it callin it a peachtree? we KNOW its a peachtree!

:look:

 :lachen: Fine then:rolleyes: I'll remove it.......and replace it with my new grape pictures I just took:grin:

I think its helpful so when people are looking for tips etc... they can identify how the hair is processed. Bone straight hair will react different then texlaxed etc... . I could never do a wash n go when I had relaxed hair but I see many of the ladies who are texlaxed get nice wash n goes , I think the term also helps to differentiate that a relaxer was used and not a texturizer like s-curl etc... I don't think anyone is denying that they have put relaxer in their hair.

Theres no such thing as texlaxing, its a relaxer!!! you are now relax, whats wrong with saying that you are relax. There are naturals, people who get texturizer which are still chemicals:spinning: and then there are people who are relax, IMO, I think people who go from natural to relax dont want to come to terms that they are relaxing again, oh i'm going to just texlax, sweetie you are relaxing, you're no more natural..... Can someone please set this straight.... I know i'm going to get some mean responses, but whatever...

why the tude? LMAO deep breath, you'll get thru it.

i don't think anyone is denying that texlaxing is chemical process and no one believes texlaxing is still natural.

texlax - a relaxer resulting in curls/waves/textured hair
relax - relaxer resulting in straight hair

what's your beef?

Lawwd have mercy

I'm gonna get my trees together and grow a green thumb SOMEHOW!

now the plum tree is fried! :lachen:

maybe I shouldnt have trees :look: I'm watering them and watering and misting the leaves like crazy, because of the heat but one hot day and they start to fry.....its really sad!

Lets change some of the terms in OP's statement.
It's sillyseason in LHCF. :perplexed

Theres no such thing as co-washing, its a conditioner!!! You have now conditioned, whats wrong with saying that you have conditioned. There are people who wash and then there are people who condition, IMO, I think people who go from washing to not washing dont want to come to terms that they are not sudsing to wash their hair, oh i'm going to just co-wash, sweetie you are conditioning, you're no more washed..... Can someone please set this straight.... I know i'm going to get some mean responses, but whatever...

First let me say your siggy pic is beautiful. I need to find someone that can give me pretty braid styles like that one.

In response to above about the co-washes. People use that term because conditioners contain surfectants just like shampoos but just at a much lower levels in the formula. They clean but just not as well as a shampoo. If your using conditioner to clean your hair after a sweaty workout it would do the job but if you try to use conditioner to clean your hair after you just finished mud wrestling it isn't going to work. I learned about conditioners having surfectants in the Curly Girl book by Lorraine Massey.

Maybe you should go to your local nursery and ask for some help. One hot day fries them?

I want some grapes :look:

And Mookymook (i just be changing yall's names :lachen: only the ones i lubb though), imma pretend I didn't read your post and crack up ok?

I think there might be an issue with chemicals period here, thats just what I'm thinking, I could be wrong though! :look:

Its like the op doesnt want any 'other' categories, only relaxed or natural, because texlaxed ladies might still look close to natural, she want to make sure they know they cant claim natural status

again I COULD be wrong though :look:

Mook's post about co-washes was just a play on words of the OP.
Replacing the OP's words of relaxer and textlax with co-wash, wash and conditioner. :yep:

yeah see if I never would have known somethin was wrong till I saw your tree and you said you got grapes! I live in this canyon area and its dry hot, and super hot out here, probably gonna have to find a way to shade them more too.

BRILLIANT!!

Okay, I'm not into confrontations but I'm curious. Why does this bother you? People are going to ask those types of questions. That's what the forum is for. I'm not afraid to ask questions. This is why I have 1400+ posts even though I'm still a newbie. Yes, I am one of those people who started a topic like that the other day. So what? I, along with hundreds of others, joined LHCF for advice on hair care. We all know that the "Search" feature doesn't always work. If someone needs info, what's wrong with asking a question?:perplexed If I see a topic that doesn't interest me, I don't even bother to enter.:ohwell: I definetely wouldn't get "bent out of shape" about it.

The only dumb question is the one that was never asked! Anyway, I'm stepping out now because I think the dead horse has been beaten enough already.

:deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse:

TELL HER PLATINUM!!! I know that's right! I'm a newbie with 1300+ posts too.

GENIUS! ABSOLUTE GENIUS!:lachen::lachen::lachen:

Personally. I like the word texlaxing. I think it clearly explains what it means. It's clever.

Now...Silkening...I don't like that one. :fistshake:I think that it is intended to lure people into thinking that they are getting a non chemical treatment.
It gives the impression that the hair will be wrapped in or coated with Silk or fairies will come sprinkle sparkling silky dust on your hair and make it silky. :nono:

This is EXACTLY what I thought when i read OP's post.
