From the looks of it, the salon is considered a high end salon so the prices are severely inflated. But you are paying for the stylist time as well as the service. At high end salons, those stylists go through yrs of training aside from the required hrs to attain a license so they are considered top stylist and you have to pay for their time. Plus atmosphere and quality of the service they provide which sometimes includes a robe, hostess service, an appt that is kept which means if you have a 10 o'clock appt, you will be seen at that time and you will not sit there half the day while they take ten other clients, you have their undivided attention and usually get the style and cut that you requested.

I don't work for them but I have worked at a high end salon and thats why I know about the prices.

It's all about the name on the salon, not the service itself. That's why I do my own color. Labor is free and cellophanes are pretty much fool-proof!

wow that is overpriced...but it's that awful Nick Arrojo from What Not to Wear.... :wallbash: I love that show...but everytime they have him doing a black womans hair i cringe! it's always horrible.

Ladies, how is the sebastian cellophane? How does it compare to others? Is the color more noticable without sun/light?

Yeah. I agree with the bolded.

Its now called sebastian laminates and they sell for 40 dollars.
I was told the price change is from the chaneg in packaging

I have one its OK. I prefer the cheap rinses (VIA @ 4.99). Ive used mine once:ohwell:

I used to use the Sebastian when it was called Colour Shines and loved it. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that it ran all on my clothes which ain't good for a frequent WnG girl :nono: While I like Sebastian, I won't be paying more for different packaging. That's just foolywangedness at it's finest. The last time I colored (see 3rd pic in siggy), I mixed the remainder of my Colour Shines w/Color Showers and Kiss Clear rinse.

Actually, they have revamped the cellophanes and they are supposed to be better than before. I haven't used them yet, but the previous ones weren't bad. I liked them because I could use them after a relaxer. I do think that is a little pricy, but like the first poster said you are paying for a quality of service and that is money.

Nick Arrojo is the hair stylist on "What Not to Wear" on TLC right? That can explain why his prices are that high.

YEP! All you pay for is the name and the fancy superficial stuff that goes with it.

Most "celebrity" (or not) stylists are so full of themselves that they half listen to your request and end up doing their own thing.

I'll rather pay the $29 bucks and do it myself.

His prices are an outrage. Like some of ya'll already said. His work on 4a/4b hair type is not worth that price.:perplexed
