Did you dye your hair? No joke. Hair color ATE my hair. I mean it never broke off but there was such a stark difference between the thickness and health of my colored and non colored hair... SMH never again.

Hey Sweetie!!

I'm sorry about your results and I left you comments in your album!

What do you think happened?

Here's a hug anyway:

:bighug:

I thought I was keeping my hair moisturized (H20, infusium, castor, rosemary aloe vera gel) 2-3x a day, oiled my scalp every couple days with oil concoction, washed weekly and condition. I don't think the braids were too tight... nah to think of it I did notice that the nape area would be fairly tight. I thought I was b/c it was already thin.
I dunno.. your guess is as good as mine. Tonight, I moisturized with profectiv anti breakage with special attn to nape area and sealed with castor and wrapped loosely with satin wrap. I'm open to any suggestions.

Something had to have caused this breakage. I think you should do a small trim and then keep up with your dc treatments. Also, no more braids right now. Maybe for the next month or two you should do loose buns without any tension.

I think it was the braids being to tight. Braids have cost me tons of hair in the past. I learned my lesson and I don't do them anymore.

Are you natural or relaxed?

Relaxed. I'm tryin to be positive

Ooohhh yeah, it was the braids alright. Relaxed hair is very fragile, the chemicals we use break down the cuticle and though the hair may feel strong, it's actually much much weaker than natural hair.

OK, that was a lesson learned. Like Fabulosity said, put your hair in a protective non-braid style and begin the task of nursing you hair back to health.

I suggest you try the EQyss Mega-Tek Rebuilder & Premier Creme Rinse or the Ovation Hair Maximizing System. These products are working miracles on many ladie's heads including my own. I use the Ovation system and it is working for me.

A ton of things came to my head to add to the already posted suggestions (rollersets only, no heat, no ponytails or tight buns for the next 18 months) but everyones hair works differently and those options may not work for you.

Stay positive and get a cute haircut to rock this summer and make you feel great about your hair. Sometimes starting over is best because it seems as if you hair was damaged pre-braiding based on the results of having them in. You might have needed to cut them anyway so try to look at the glass half full :yep:

Im amazed at how many people viewed your album but not many posters regarding advice. Maybe they werent sure what to add :look:

^^^ I just peeked at your album, but didn;t leave a comment. I think you received good advice from the ladies here about not being discouraged, avoiding braids for a while and maybe bunning and babying that area. Best wishes- it'll get better :yep:

Ummm dont dye your hair anymore. Double processed hair isnt a good idea for novice hair growers. From what I know, experienced and have been told, dyed hair needs moisture. Not oil. MOISTURE. Deep conditioning (with protein every month or so). I would consider my hair triple processed at one time (bleached, dyed and relaxed) I kept heat away (rollersets and wet sets) and deep conditioned often. It grew out instead of falling out. Good luck

I understand what your going through..I experienced breakage while I was natural when I got my color done and then put in kinky twist extensions without waiting a few weeks after my color to deep condition. When I took my exts my hair was breaking left and right. Just focus on deep conditioning 2x's a week with a moisturizing condioner and do a protein treatment at least once a month and your hair should be back in good health in no time.

Awe...You'll bounce back...You didn't lose too much and your hair looked really good after the trim

I agree. My hair was colored for years and due to that I had extremely over processed hair. My ends still are. If you look at my relaxed album you will see the progress i made but it should have been more but the colored part broke and I trimmed a lot. I have been coloring my hair since 9 years old yes you heard me since 9 years old. The dark hair is my one year progress. What happened to the six inches of colored hair I had? you can imagine.

Please do not double process your hair again. Im so sorry this is happening to you. Just baby your hair and moisturize as much as you can. Dont worry about length. Its not the only progress you can make. Concentrate on healthy hair. Im rooting for you. I know exactly where you are coming from. You can do it. HHG
