Oh dear. I went back to the creamy crack and i'm addicted now .

I hated wearing weaves, extensions, wigs - the whole lot. If you like this stuff then just continue until you get a good length.

maybe if i can find someone to keep me in braids, i'm so picky and folks are so ruff handed when it come to my hair. i want to wait for this feeling to subside but i'm on the verge to say forget it. i'd rather relax and keep myself fingerwaved n scrunched like the good ol days my hair will be back in no time....

I'm thinking about going back to relaxers...i don't want to but i want to. :wallbash:

If you really dont have the urge to keep up with your natural texture, seeing how relaxers are alot easier. Then make that choice. I personally think you should hang in there!!! How many months are you and whats making you want the relaxer?

6mths natural 1.5 of hair
comparing myself when i'm relaxed w/ 4.5-5'' of hair
i feel like i should have better growth being natural as oppose to when i was relaxed.

I'm not sure if being relaxed or natural has any connection with your growth rate. Your growth rate could have possibly decreased.

Pretty much. I've just noticed that my hair is growing slower than usual while being natural. I don't know why. I thought that if I go natural, my hair growth would speed up rather than slow down.

Hair grows at the same rate whether relaxed or natural. Have you blow dried or pressed it out? You could just have crazy shrinkage. The 6 month itch to relax is natural.

i know, i'm not implying relaxers are a growth aid...:rolleyes:never that, lol but noticing between the 2, my hair is growing alot slower being natural and i don't know why. i airdry daily, i don't always put oil on my scalp cuz oil will just make it itch like nobody's biz, lol. i stopped poo'n 2-3 weeks ago, cow daily or every other day, dc between 2-3x's wk, i wear my hair in a natural rather than styled...ok i have a twa but i don't do too much to it. i try to let it be. u may be right, i may be just going through a phase of just wanting to relax, he// i was addicted to cream for 20 yrs and giving it up cold turkey i'm just experiencing w/drawal symptoms.

i would wait. try to make it a year. i thought i would relax once a year, but after i crossed the year mark, i was like "why?". you'll see ur roots are so much thicker and stronger and healthier than ur relaxed hair. plus, for me, there are too many variables with relaxing - you never know if you'll have the same results (perfectly processed rather than under or over processed) every time you do it and can end up with hair of all textures or worse - having to start over! YIKES.

OP, i know what you mean. I felt like i was getting no progress doing 'all the right things' to my natural hair. I was frustrated and literally tearing my hair out. It was tangle city. After i relaxed the stylist pointed out that half my head was full of split ends and was very dry.

I decided my hair didn't run me - i run tings....i'm now doing what is best for me with regards to styling, looking the way i like and gaining length.

womp womp womp...i do not want to start over...i just need so encouragement from ya'll.

The different results are true. I was natural for about 6 months ( for the fifth time) and I relaxed again. Relaxing virgin hair and the next touch up were so different.

If you do relax, I would go to a professional for more consistent results.

Do whatever you want to do. Everyone has different experiences, at different times! My hair grows the same rate, relaxed or natural. But, I am retaining more length, and my hair feels alot stronger, now that I am transitioning. It sucks, I know. I am 3 months post, and it feels like something else:spinning:. But, I don't over stress it, and understand that this IS my hair's natural texture, and I have to care for it. But, don't stress yourself over it. Do what makes you happy!:yep:

Please do what makes you happy! Ive tried to go natural about 5 years ago and the transition lasted about 7 months after i seen all that new growth i relaxed without hesitation LOL. so do what you want to do!

:yep: It sure is, cuz I just did it! Once I hit month 6, I just couldn't take it anymore. I am loving my hair right now, but part of me wishes I hung in there a little longer.

First to the OP, I started a thread last week about "finding a style or I'm going to relax" I know exactly how you feel.:yep:

Crazydaze911, Thank you for saying what I was thinking.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank you!!!!
The bolded statement will always be engrafted in my heart. I will continue this journey being natural because of this statement. My suggestion would be to wait too. I've natural for one year. I have about 4- 5 inches of hair. It has been a tough year -- The wigs, weave, tight braids... all of that :nono:.

I'm tired too. I think I am going to start getting a weekly press. I use CHI serum (do a search on this forum-its the best) before pressing to keep from literally frying my hair. I have problems with reversion after 2 days. I also use Aveeda anti humectant-but no good happenings with that either. Any suggestions out there?

OP, what was the reason that you decided to go natural? I say if you wanna relax, go ahead and do it. I think you should be fine as long as you apply it correctly. If you dont want to relax it yourself, let a trusted stylist do it. I think anyone can have healthy, relaxed hair. You just have to know what to do with it. Of course you cant be blowdrying and flatironing all the time, etc, because of course that'll lead to disaster. I see plenty of relaxed, healthy heads on this board.:yep: So, I say once again, go ahead and relax if you desire.

Oh, I can do my hair and care for it, no issues there...I'm no new kid on the block...lol but the reason for going natural was b/c my dermatologist said I had Seb Dermatitis and to leave oil, grease, and all chemicals alone. But even after a year my scalp still itched, so I, on my own, stopped poo'n my hair...voila, it seemed to be the prolong use of poo, I don't know what's in it but it can have me itch'n! I use co on a daily or every other day if I'd forget.
I'm bored w/ my natural hair, it's growing slower than usual, and I miss my scrunch waves...I'm old school but I love my front pencil waves. I know what heat can do, shoot I'm always preaching that to others...but back to me...tee hee, I never have split ends, tangles, limp hair when I flat ironed, I didn't have to work as hard. Let me stop, I sound as if I hate my natural hair and I don't. Being natural, I have porosity, elasticity, sheen, rich n healthy color, it's what God gave me. I'm going to wait to try to shake the creamy itch....It may be my emotions, my hormones are, all over the place so I'll just take a chill pill.

Don't feel bad. This is my first transition and I'm fighting the urge. I'm 23 weeks post and the NG is a beast.:wallbash:

Lawd I know how you feel at 21 weeks. I was out having breakfast with SO this morning. I started to smile to myself. He smiled and said " What you thinking?" with a look of love in his eyes. I said " Relaxer" :lachen::lachen: he said "put it in you calendar " and went back to his eggs. Girl you know I literally pulled out my Dash opened up the calendar and put relaxer in it. .... I dyin here
