Does the hair dry out there and does the water affect the hair in a positive or negative way? Please respond asap.

Don't know about the water, but from what I remember it can get pretty humid. Maybe someone else will chime in.

ETA... and the heat during the summer is incredible.

Chicago has a real good water filtration system. I haven't had negative effects from the water. The humidity can get pretty bad though. I've lived here most of my life and am still trying to learn what's best for my hair in the summer. When I leave the house with my hair down, by the time I get to work all my curls are gone.:nono: So in the heat its a lot of updo's and rollersets.

CHicago's water is good. I have never had anything bad about it. Not to hard, not to soft. The humidity sucks! I went to Las Vegas, last year. When I got to CHicago right out of the airport, the air was thick and sticky. I am realizing as I get older that with my hair it is best to wash and go or where PS in the summer. Flat ironing or curling, forgettaboutit!!!!:nono:

Chicago weather is crazy funnny. One day it's eighty degrees, the next day it's forty degrees. You just never know sometimes. It can get very humid sometimes but it's never consistent. I have yet to experience any problems with the water.

I agree. It seems to be more humid than anything else in the summer. Makes my hair crazy .

In Chicago it's important to watch the weather everyday. And before you leave the house, go outside for a second and see how it feels. LOL. I kid you not. The weather can change in an instant. But the water's pretty good. Not too hard, not too soft. Some areas have harder water because they're farther from the lake. But overall our water is good. For humidity, I'd suggest using Sabino Moisture Block if you're wearing straight hair. I recently started using it and my hair absolutely adores it. :yep:

I agree with most of what was stated. When it's warm it is suffocatingly humid--not as bad as Miami, but pretty bad. I disagree about the water. It tastes really good for drinking, but I think it is hard for hair and skin. I really regret not getting a water softener when I got my house built.

Summer is humid. The rest of the year is not. How do you guys know about the water quality? A regional map said Chicago water is hard (like most of the country). I haven't been comparing across cities, though, so I don't know what to look for, so I was just going off of something like this:

I've looked at some of those maps too. The way I know from experience is from comparing it to water in other cities that I've visited. Softer water lathers easier with less soap/shampoo and even feels different. I have a little table fountain and have to clean it with vinegar regularly because of the mineral deposits in the water. I don't get this if I used distilled water from the store.
