I also do a heavy protein treatment about a week to 3 days before my relaxer so that my hair is as strong as possible. I also try to detangle it really well at that time because I hate for the stylist to detangle my hair. I HATE that. Usually I flat iron or something.
Sounds good! Make sure you detangle really well. Less pain for you and your tresses!OMG! I hate it it too. I'm tenderheaded so I can't stand when she rips threw my newgrowth. OUCH!
So last night (since I'm relaxing Friday) I did a protein treatment and deep conditioned afterwards and then airdryed in a pony.![]()

Thanks for this info ladies!I'm supposed to be getting my touchup next Tuesday, so this information really did give me a reminder.
Just one question: If your hair is like 13 weeks post relaxer (like mine is), would doing a strong protein treatment (like Nexxus Emergencee) be the best thing to do? Would it cause my newgrowth/previously relaxed hair to break? I'm just wondering because I heard that TOO much protein can actually cause your hair to fall out/break. I'm just curious if maybe I should go with a lighter protein treatment (like Nexxus Keraphix) before my touchup.
I haven't done Emergencee in a LONG LONG time, but every time I used it, I got good results. I just know that I can't use it too often. What do you think I should do?![]()
Very Very helpful info. Thanks a bunch for this.
Well I used Nexxus Emergencee last night and followed it with Kenra conditioner and today my airdryed pony isn't crunchy like it tends to be sometimes. So, so far so good.
Good luck hun. Let us know how it turns out.
I do a heavy protein a week to 5 days before, and rollerset my hair so that the line of demarcation is clear.
