Is this healthy or will it be too much manipulation in the long run? I want to go on a heat break and just do braidouts for the whole summer and I'm wondering if anyone has done this continously with good results.

Thanks!

I would like to know this too. I was doing them for a few weeks and I noticed a few splits that I had to dust off.

I know my shrunken hair is about shoulder length so it could be rubbing, but I also feel like I'm having to manipulate the hair a lot to do the braidouts- detangling, braiding, etc.:scratchch
All this has made me hesitant to use the braidout as my primary summer style and I would love to hear what some more experienced members have to say about braidouts...

Ok, I did some researching (Im backwards) and I believe it can be done with little breakage if the hair is washed and conditioned while it's already in braids, then the braids can air-dry and voila! Until the next time, then just braid the hair again while it's dry and start all over. I'm gonna try this for a little while and see how this goes.

Braid-outs are great. I get tons of growth with them. For me it's very low manipulation even though I re-braid every night. All I do is section my hair, moisturize, seal and braid(no combing)....simple . I don't see how it would be too much manipulation.

makes sense to me. let us know how it goes!

I agree!!! I do twist-outs primarily and to me it is just like protective styling. Once you part and section your hair, you shouldn't have to do it again until the next time you wash, which would eliminate any combing or brushing.

i love braidouts. very low manipulation for me. i don't have to rebraid except the ends only once a week. i wear my braidout for 2 weeks.
