I have never worn braids before, but I am seriously thinking about doing it this summer. The instructional video looks pretty good, but does anyone actually own the DVD who could speak from personal experience?

Thanks in advance

Yes and No, I bought the how to do weaves instructional video and I guess it's alright. It had everything I knew how to do already and I've only watched it once. I cant say much for the micro braid videos since I haven't purchsed one. I can say she has excellent service!

I have her cornrow compilation dvd and now I can braid my DD's hair. She made new DVD's to improve on her old set.

I don't own Breslin, I'm curious about it though. But I do have Cornrow tutorials that I posted on you tube if you ladies are interested.

I plan to do one that explains adding extensions soon.
The one that Robin had on Growafrohairlong was the best but now it is unavailable:ohwell:

well, i just bought the kinky twist one. I really wish she would have had a sample on how to do YOUR hair and not just someone elses. I have a hard time braiding underhanded. I can french braid but not cornrow. Im going to get my mothers maniquin head to practice on. Dang it, she was just here today and I forgot to tell her to bring it...oh well.

http://public.fotki.com/Serica/ this fotki is why i bought the DVD. She is a member here. She has a PW. She has a tutorial on how to do the kinky twists.

ETA: She does have a 60 day money back guarantee.

I have the compilation dvd and it didn't help :( I'm VERY ''challenged'' when it comes to braiding, she moved too fast and didn't explain what she was doing very well. My dh got it, but like I said, it's like my brain just can't comprehend the cornrowing process.

I learned off of a website with lots of pictures, a member posted it, but I forgot who. It's the best tutorial I've seen, and I've seen A LOOOOOT! I still suck at it, but at least I can do it now! :yahoo:

Mook, I'm gonna have to go to the library and see your tutorial! I'll bet it's good cause you be hookin your hair UP!

I agree with you tiffers. I bought the micro braids Breslin DVD. When I was finished watching I was like, that's it!! I felt like she didn't go into enough detail. I expected more, because I don't know jack about braiding my hair like that, or other people's hair for that matter. I wanted her to measure hair out of the pack and much more. She was also going too fast for me, no matter how many times I tried to go back to a scene. :nono:

well thanks for all the comments. It sounds like this DVD didnt help when it comes to doing our own hair vs. someone elses so.... I probably wont be buying it. That's what you girls are here for. Thanks

i was inspired by the compilation vid to try micros in my sister's hair...if i had the right type of hair at the time (and patience!) it would have worked. but the yarn twists currently n my sister's head came from Honesty's fotki, and AFashionSlave has the bun tutorials, and foxieroxie has nice updo photos. i would have returned it had i remembered but it is okay for learning general techniques, how to start braids with extensions, etc. come to think of it, i may sell mine in the exchange forum...

Oh Mook when you do plz let me know when it's complete. Your tutorials have been a big help to me:grin:

I have the cornrow compilation, microbraids, kinky twists and weaves DVDs. I really need to get the other 2 weave DVDs so I can learn how to do weaves. The first weave DVD didn't go into much detail. As expensive as they are, I thought they would contain more info.

I found them to be explained very well and she repeated important points several times to clarify. I didn't find them hard to follow at all... I was telling DH she is an excellent teacher.

If anyone has the weave compilations, I'd love to get them!
