Hi Ladies,
For those of you that use SAA from Lation Craft...does it smell like fish water?

I just got mine in the mail and its a clear and watery but smells like fish!!!! I expected it to be silky texture to the touch.

Did I get the wrong stuff?

Oh thank God!! i thought they sent me some dud stuff. I already mixed it into my conditioner.

Ok fishy eye lashes - here i come....:lachen:

Yeah,

it's one of the drawbacks of this item,

but the results are too aamzing not to use it regularly.

The smell doesn't last, and most of us mix it with something else,

so the smell goes away anyway.

I'll take the smell for the results ANYDAY!!!!!!!!

HTH

i wouldn't describe it as fishy... fish smells much worse.

but it does have a funky smell to it. thankfully once i mix it with V05 conditioner, that disappears. :yep:

 Yeah, it's got a little funky fish-like twang to it. It'll go away in a matter of minutes, though, esp. if it's mixed with something :yep:

omg, it's sooo funny you should ask this because I just got mine today, too and I was wondering about that funky smell!

That stuff does stink, but it's good. I always cringe when I spray by UBH Dew Moisturizer on my hair (Added 1 1/2 capfuls of SAA to it).

For the people that bought their SAA from lotioncrafters, how in the heck did you get that red seal off the top. I tried knives and everything and I still can't get that red seal all the way off? I tried calling them but nobody picks up the phone.

I use pliers to pull it off

Ok this is cool.
Most of you ladies seem to have the smelly kind...
I have been using it and the smell does dissappear... phew!!!

Silk has a natural odor. I knit with silk sometimes and it does have a smell, especially when wet. If you have a silk top and wet it, you would smell something similar. I don't have any silk amino acids, but I wonder if you all are just smelling the natural smell of silk. It is worm spit and bodies, after all. :lachen:

Ew, ew, EWWWWWWWW Mwedzi!!! :lachen: Dang, I knew that and all, but..... eewwwwwwwwww!!!

I haven't worn silk in so long (aversion to dry cleaning chemicals) that I don't even remember what it smells like..... that makes sense, though.

OP, mine does indeed smell fishy and I am really hating the smell..

For those of you who rollerset with SAA, are you mixing it with your setting lotion or do you put it on the hair before/after the setting lotion? How has SAA improved your rollersets?

good point! i think that's why i don't think it smells like fish... i mean i used to actually go fishing and clean those nasty buggers, me and my dad's clothes would REEK of fish guts.

okay i'm done grossing people out :lachen: i'm just saying i can distinguish the 2 scents.

Uhmm.... I was wondering if a sweet smelling natural oil can be used to counteract the smell? If not I'm going to use it anyway....:lachen:I haven't ordered it yet but I will soon. Long lashes are sexaaaaa!:yep:

I recently added a capful of SAA to my Phytodensium shampoo and 1 1/2 caps to Phytospecific Integral Spray (which I ocassionally use to rollerset). My decrease in hair coming out during the entire wash process was dramatically reduced.

Also, another thing I noticed. For some reason, when my stylist sets my hair, after it dries I never have shedded hair coming off the bottom of the curls. When I would do it myself, there would be some long strands hanging of the bottom of the curls. Not this last wash when I added SAA to my leave-in. There were no hairs or clumps hanging off the ends (only a few on some rollers). I think the SAA definitely helped.

The smell is brief - when I use my spray in the morning, I'll smell it for - 5, maybe 10 minutes max, then it fades away. I don't smell it in the clear mascara I use on my eyelashes at all, and I can't smell it when I mix it with almost anything that has a fragrance (conditioners, leave-ins, etc, etc)....

As long as you don't put to much in you should be fine. I had an embarassing moment when I put to much in. Smelled all day long it was horrible. Its hard to use the stuff now knowing what it is. I mean I knew what it is but I didn't know in details . Like eating a hamburger its wonderful as long as you don't think about what it is your eating. I hate that.
But I like the SAA but I just don't get into it like I use to. Not sure what its suppose to do but make my hair feel silky. I was using it on my lashes but since stopped. I don't wear make up and its hard to remember to put on mascara. Plus my eyes tear all day long. can't find the cause hence no make up.

i use my UBH like that too. do not enjoy the smell of it at all, but its doing what needs to be done so at the end of the day, i spray it on anyhow.

Thanks...... I wonder if my hair could take all the protein.

It's interesting - my hair is not all that crazy about protein, but it LOVES SAA! A lot of naturals use it - it's more of a moisturizing protein than a strengthening protein, I think.

Overall, it makes your hair stronger, smoother, and - my hair seems to hold onto it's moisture better - and it's definitely made my eyelashes fuller & longer.

There are a lot of threads going over SAA - you might want to do a search and read a couple - I think sareca started a really good one.
