Hey, Any of you guys ever heard of Deshawn Bullard?

the one thing I HATE is when folks push products (celebs) and they got a hair full of weave, extension, lacefront, etc.... and talk about the hairgrowth they've received from using the products. Kinda like when MJB was all up on Carols Daughter with a head full of weave:nono::nono::nono:

It looks like she knows alot about hair! But I wouldnt buy her hair vitamins because I can buy biotin on my own and that's all she has in it.:ohwell:

Co-signing on that. :yep: It's good to see a sista do her thang, tho.

I completely agree. I trust products endorsed by real women with real hair, not because celebrities endorse it.
Plus I'm trying a new rule: don't trust advice from people who can't grow their own hair.

That's what I thought when I saw T-Boz, that's why I made a note about her endorsing the products. Her hair has been that same length and everything for years.

Thank You.

Deshawn looks like she's wearing a weave. :perplexed

I'll pass.

Dang. She graduated from 'Skegee.

Maybe I'll make a donation.

But, I understand what you mean.
But, its the same thing as folks who wear weaves and wigs here. You still have to take care of your hair under the wig, hence the vitamins and products. I haven't used them yet (told her I would) but they look good. I like stuff with a shea butter base. And, T-Boz maybe doesn't wear wigs and weaves anymore unless she's on tour.

From a business perspective she seems like she's done a good job marketing her business.

From her website alone, I wasn't convinced by the hair care practices. But that may be because I didn't like the hair dos, or wasn't inspired.

But again, her business sense seems darn good to me, I wanna meet her!

THANK YOU! :yep: Hair is dyed, fried and laid to the side but I'm supposed to run and go get that, hoping to get T-Boz's amazing growth. Nah dog, I'll pass. :hand:

Dang, sista's are damned if they do, damned if they dont..........

I respectfully disagree. I LOVE seeing a sister on her entrepreneurial hustle. I am the first one to want to support and spread the word. But when one decides to sell hair products, and professes that such products will GROW hair, then hire models who have real and appealing before and after pics. Buyers are savvy these days. If you're going to have a celeb, at least try to make the weave look believeable. C'mon now. I'm not going to have a dealership, claiming I sell luxury automobiles, but when you visit the site, all you see are beat up Pintos. :nono:

I respect her business savvy, as a fellow black woman, but I beleive it was a major faux pas in her marketing strategy to use T-Boz. Maybe she can conduct a focus group that can give valuable critique. Not all criticisms are mean-spirited.

Ok, but we buy products everyday that says it will make our hair soft, strong, shiny....etc without photos, testimonials and the like.

She says the vitamins will do this
#1 Safe and Effective Herbal Supplement for Hair Thinning & Hair Loss
Prevents Hair Thinning & Hair Loss
Thickens Hair Naturally
Eliminates dandruff
Prevents Dryness & Brittleness
Promotes Follicular Growth
Stimulates health and Growth of Hair, Nails, Skin & Eyes
Great for Relaxed, Color Treated Hair (Makes Hair Stronger)

Maybe T-Boz didn't feel comfortable wearing her natural hair out because it has suffered so much damage over the years with her sickle cell and all?

She does have a few testimonials on her site and she also has a lady on their with photos. I don't think she is necessarily using T-Boz to sell her product and some of the ladies on the website don't look like they have a weave to me.

Also let me say this, she does need to get new photos. My previous stylist in SC went to Deshawn's seminar once and these are the same photos from her website back in...say....2001/2002.

I went back to view the site again. DeShawn Bullard does not believe in applying a relaxer too soon, and she beleives in vits and quality prods...all great in my book. But when T-Boz is the "celeb" endorsing the prod, Ms. Bullard loses some credibility. Why? Because her chosen celeb is wearing an unappealing weave, blond highlights, and has no before and after pics. In fact, the first time I visited Ms. Bullard's site, I did not even bother to continue searching the rest of the site after I saw T-Boz and those tracks. Wearing a weave is one thing, many of us wear it very nicely and responsibly to acheive our goals. But that pic did nothing for her and her testimony<---- my humble opinion and :twocents: Again, just because I have a critique does not mean it comes with malicious intent. Also, just because Ms. Bullard is a sista, does not mean we should not hold her up to a certain expected standard. If any other company, (white-owned, black-owned, big business, whatever) chose to use a hair model or celeb with an unfortunate weave, while trying to sell me hair products, I would feel the same way.
