What hair care products and/or appliances do you take with you when you go on trips (for business or fun)?

Before joining the LHCF, I’d wash my hair before and after going on a trip and only bring something to put on my scalp (and possibly oil sheen ;)), rollers, a curling iron, and a comb and brush. Now that I’ve incorporated new products and activities into my regimen, it's safe to say that I'll be carrying slightly more than that on my next trip. :yep:

Do you all find yourselves carrying everything you use at home or do you scale back? While we’re at it, I don’t suppose anyone has any tips for packing light? :look:

I travel frequently for work and I do not check bags, I'm all about the carry-on. I take a little container for my coconut oil ( I carry this more because I use the coconut oil as "lotion"). I have a little bottle for my moisturizer, and a spray bottle for my spray concoction.

I will usually wash my hair the day before a trip, especially if I have to fly. I will just wake up early, wash and set it right before my flight.

I always pack a scarf and bobby pins so I can cross wrap it and so I can make pin curls if need be.

Product wise

Jane Carter Nourish and Shine- doubles as body moisturizer and I don't need much. I will spoon a little into a photo film case, ya know those little plastic containers. I just throw that in my purse and use it on my hair, lips, ashy elbows or whatever.

Shampoo and Conditioner- I put my current favorites into plastic travel bottles or just take a little shampoo and 2 packs of conditioner.
Leave in conditioner
Serum
Combs
Flat iron- I don't pack my sit under dryer or anything. I will take a flat iron though since I can air dry my hair and just flat iron it smooth

I bring everything.

I put my shampoo/conditoner/leavein/moisturizer in travel size containers (or buy the travel size).

But, I bring my flatiron, blowdryer and carusos. yep, I rolls deep!

If it is a quick trip I may not bring everything, and just do my hair before leaving. But, if i am going someplace where I will swim or possibly get my hair dirty, I bring the entire arsenal (downsized, of course).

Edited to add:
None of this goes with me if I get braids in before I go away. I get the luxury of travelling light with braids. All I need is some braid spray and a scarf. I can use the hotel shampoo and condish.

I traveled last month and like some other ladies have said I washed my hair the day before and took down my wrap just before I went to the airport. I was gone for about 5 days and by day three I had to wash my hair again.
With me I packed
bobby pins
scarf scrunchies
ponytail holders
chi silk infusion
(my beloved) Chi flatiron (actually it's really the debil)
conditioner for co-washing.
Profectv healthy ends

that was enough,
but next time I would also bring:
another leave in for moisture
my MN mix
and maybe a travel blowdryer (just in case the hotel or whereever I am staying doesn't have one)

Plane.

Purse: I carry Solid Pure Cocoa Butter, Silk or Satin scarf and a hat. Plastic hair pins. 4 Cut off strips black pantyhose for ponytails. If I need to moisturize my hair, I just run my hands under water in ladies room and when they are nearly dry I moisturize the ends very very lightly, quickly, pin up and throw on the scarf under my hat. When my hair is dry

Anything else I need, depending on the length of my trip and stay goes in my large luggage. That could include henna, indigo/salt mix, and some scalp oil mix or coconut oil mix and a small funnel and plastic spoon and small plastic covered bowl. Anything else I need, I buy in the smallest bottles at my destination and use up before I return. Try to find small sample bottles of things and pack in your luggage if necessary. For example hotels have those tiny shampoo bottles etc. I dump a few of them and save the bottles and put my own stuff in. HTH

I usually just take my Sedu, Qhemet HC, and IC gel. That way I can have my hair wet or dry if needed.

Honey, I bring everything!

They need to quit playing with this 3 oz bottle rule. I got my ORS Olive Oil lotion conficscated once and was angry ! Since then, I've just been checking my bags 'cause I like to be prepared for all situations. You don't know what the weather will be like in certain places, so I bring stuff for my curly do's :afro: and str8 do's :hair:.

:).

I'm sure we all have mini-spray bottles, but what about jars? I want to say that I've seen mini-jars (plastic with a screw on lid that could hold about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of liquid) which could be used for travel, but I can't recall exactly where. Up until this point, I've been putting my deep conditioners in ziplock bags, but a small jar might be better since it would be less likely to get squished.

*LOL* Yeah, it's always better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it! ;)
