Naturals, what are your year end goals and regimen?

It's May, one month from the 6 month mark. 2009 will be here before we know it. I've been somewhat slacking on my haircare, but I'm back to business. I'd love to share ideas with other naturals who are stepping it up so we can go into 2009 with progress. Come on naturals, spill it!

:ohwell:Man time flies.....

I've been keeping it simple: Protective styling, washing, dcing, protecting my ends and protective styling some more. BORING, but it's working:grin:. I've been pretty consistent with my haircare so overall, I'm quite happy with my progress. My hair is growing nicely and I've also been working on thickening up my hair especially my edges. My nape/back is creeping up on APL and I'm giving myself until July...the sides and front can catch up when they want; no hurry, no worry. Since my hair grows in layers, I'm bootcamping for healthy, thick BSL at the nape/back and shoulder length in the front by December and if not, then sometime in '09

My goal is shoulder length hair. I really just want some healthy, shoulder length hair, stretched. That's my first hurdle. I've never, ever been shoulder length before in my life, and I figured it would be easier for me to do that as a natural, versus when my hair was falling out left and right with a relaxer. I've implemented Redken Extreme and Ayurevedic methods to my regimen, so we will see the difference! I'm updating my fotki soon.

My goal is healthy shoulder length hair by the end of the year, too. I don't know how realistic that goal is b/c I haven't straightened my hair yet. My plan is to take better care of it(I've been wearing it shrunken pretty much the entire time I've been natural, yikes). I will do the stick to one product line for 6 months challenge using Karen's Body Beautiful line to see if that makes a difference. I think that's about it for now. Oh yeah, I think by the end of the year, I'm going to wear my hair staright more consistently.

My goal is APL by Dec. 08

Not sure if I'll make it but hopefully I'll be close
I am currently in braids and I plan on braiding for the next 3 months.

I did the BC in 4/08. I was SL relaxed and I am pushing for SL natural by the end of the year. I don't have a regimen down yet as I am just getting used to being short and natural.

My styling goal is to easily get my twists into one claw for an updo. Why is that so friggin hard? My length goal is 1 ft of hair all the way around. That would bring my bottom layer to my bra band. My maintenance goal is to get detangling regularly under 1 hour with minimal breakage. My hair health goal is to find a leave-in that doesn't make my scalp itch and doesn't break my skin out and that's easy to apply, affordable, preferably nice-smelling, and I guess, "moisturizing" :) .

Healthy, thicker strands. Color absolutely killed some of my strands, making them straight as toothpicks. I cut all of them off, and that was a big setback.

Currently I wash n' go with Trader Joe's Nourish, Giovanni, or Elusence, deep condition 1/week, and henna when I have time.:look: I use creamy leave- ins (Curl Junkie Hibiscus and Banana) and one liquid (curls) at different times during the day to maintain moisture. I'm also 100 percent CG, and in the last few weeks have seen my hair thrive!

I would love to find a liquid leave in in the store, but am tired of the product shuffle. Did I hear Giovanni was in stores now?

Length will follow, and if not-- I love my crazy hair as it is!

Shoulder length, is what I'm shooting for this year. I've been pretty boring, regimen wise - still sticking to my 8 week cycles and my two week protective hairstyles.

My goal for the end of 08 is a nice full, blunt ended bsl, creeping into mbl.

Is that too much to ask for? :spinning:

i haven't trimmed since my BC last May just the occasional dusting here and there and my ends really look and feel very good so i'm going to only trim if it's absolutely needed, dust away any splits or knots and keep it moving.

You ladies already know what you have to do to realize your dreams so live it like you know!!

I would like to gain 3 inches by then and lessen my shedding. I'm not sure where I am now...hovering somewhere around armpit.
My reggie has'nt changed. Just cowashes about every other day. Bunning during the week and out maybe twice per month. I'm thinking about getting braids for a couple of months too.

i want the top layer of my hair to be BSL by the end of the year... or at the very least, by my nappiversary (March 16th, 2009). i think i'm planning to get rid of my layers once i reach that point... yes, i mean cutting the longer layers of my hair to be even with the top one. but i want that top layer to be BSL first.

my reggie, same as always. co-wash every day until that cold weather sets in, detangling every 7-10 days (i wash on detangling day). use co-wash conditioner as my leave-in by not rinsing it out all the way (just kinda squeeze the majority of it out with my hands). trim/protein/DC as needed. when the weather gets colder, probably will switch over to using a leave-in and topping that with a gel/cream then diffusing once a week to style hair, and washing/detangling once a week then re-doing hair. when that top layer reaches BSL i will flat iron and get to chopping off those layers. :drunk:

i'll still do some experimenting along the way though... :yep:

I don't really care what my length is stretched cuz i rarely where my hair straight but all I want for christmas is curly hair that hangs just a bit past my shoulders... I love the feeling of hair on your shoulders!... i would love to have my shrunken box braids hang somewhere around APL or BSL

anywho I've just been doing the frequent washing thing... i really need to get back on the baggy bandwagon

Year-end goals:

-Ponytail
-Full SL (I'm layered SL right now)
-Maintain thick, healthy hair from root to tip :grinwink:

Regimen (short-version):

- Wash, DC, detangle, moisturize
- Wear low-manip hair styles
- Stay on top of my internal health (water, vitamin, sleep, etc.)

I want to be able to put all my hair up in a ponytail by the end of the year. Im going to start wearing protective styles. Also, have my nape catch up with the rest of my hair.:look:

ETA: grow my edges back. How did I forget about those.

stretched full APL.
I'm scheduled to have a real trim this week. It's been a year , I don't want to push my ends too far..so Thursday evening is the big event ..I can't believe how childish I'm being:ohwell:

Waistlength for my shortest layer, hip length for my longest.

To perfect a wash n go so it looks good once fully dried.

To stay natural:grin:.

My goals for the rest of this year is to be Apl, by August, and bra strap by Dec. I'm just take silica and msm vitamins, co-wash every 2-3 days, use sulfur and i'm also on the deep conditioner challenge which i will do 2 - 3 times a week, thats about it, not really protective styles, unless i'm wearing wigs and being lazy

Great to see everyone's goals! So exciting!

Right now my longest layer is just about APL stretched. I'm going to be weaving it up all the way until the end of the year. While in weaves I will be taking care of the scalp, washing w/ shikakai, doing mini cowashes w/ diluted conditioner, etc...and using the lifesaver product, CASTOR OIL! Why I didn't jump on the castor oil bandwagon sooner is a mystery to me.

While out of weaves I will be doing daily cowashes and FINALLY incorporating henna and indigo into my regimen.

Hopefully by December I will be BSL stretched. I'm also wanting my bangs and hair up front to catch up in length. My front hair grows SO slowly. I need to work on my edges as well. Hoping to get my bangs to my shoulder.

Drink more water, eat healthy, incorporate vits, the whole nine. Let's grow girls!

YES. I have never been APL before, perhaps except as a child, but never as a teen/adult, and here I am with my longest layer right at APL.Who would have thought? You'll be there in no time.

my goal is to be at least able to put my hair into a puff or something!!!!
i know i will love my hair and i just want to do more with it. i hope my regimen gets a little more interesting.. and i believe with the topical growth aids im using it will be a pretty nice sized puff, but alas, i dont know! i hope!

My goal is to be full between SL and APL. Right now the back falls past my shoulders I'm just trying to grow out these stupid layers. I just turned to a new regimen so its still subject to change this year. But no matter what this part won't change Natural shampoo, at least 5 days a week protective styling and moisturize nightly

My goal is to APL stretched by end of year. I am still tweeking my regime, but I know henna, washing at least 2-3x/week, wearing twist, and using my shealoe concoction are doing wonders for my hair currently.

Vlucious your TWA is very Pretty:yep:

Well my goal is to be able to pull my hair back in a puff, but I am sure it will have to hit my year mark in April of '09' before that happens LOL!! But I have really stepped up on doing my regular treatments, like a weekly deep conditioner, and I don't Co-wash daily, just every few days, I don't use alot of products so I don't need to shampoo much. But I just Exercise 3 days a week, eat better, drinking more water, keeping stress at bay & reading a Daily Scripture before I start my Day!

I don't use growth aids at all, just essential oils!!

Full shoulder length.... I'm still not back to the length I was before I bced. I'm going to be weaving and braiding this whole summer.
