Ladies, I have learned SO MUCH since I lucked up and found this website. My hair is now growing beautifully and healthily...BUT, I was hoping for information on layering my products for maximum results. What goes on first after the leave-in conditioner serum, oils, oil sheen, etc., etc.????

Your help in this matter will help me continue on this fascinating hair journey.

By no means would I consider myself an expert, and I am still in the process of trying to find out what "works" for my hair, but for now I apply my leave in (HE LTR leave in) after my cowash. Then I apply my moisturizer (EQP mango butter), then I seal with EVCO. (My hair is in love with coconut oil!!)

To avoid too much manipulation, I mix my leave in, moisturizer and oil together in the palms of my hands and rub it all in at the same time

You're serious about your low mani huh? So putting in the leave in, and then putting an oil to seal is too much manipulation?
Wow, I might need to revisit my low-mani regimen LOL

The thing to considers is "What does what?".

Oils with the exception of coconut and jojoba (possibly castor, others weigh in on this) tend to seal/coat hair, not penetrate. Leave-ins are to penetrate the hair strand, serums and silicone based (often shine/gloss product) DEFINITELY coat the hair.

You don't want to seal your hair's cuticle shut, then put a leave-in or moisturizing product on top....It won't penetrate. What you are using and its purpose should dictate the order.

Moisture (for example a leave-in) followed by a sealing agent (oil or serum), would be a good rule to follow.

I wouldn't want to use a moisture product, sealing agent, AND glossing shine agent on my own hair, personally, to avoid product build up. Especially when many sealing agents whether silicone or oil also increase shine.

However, what your hair likes is what it likes...and it's best to oblige it.

Thanks to all of my LHCF sisters for your responses. This board has helped my hair IMMENSELY!!!! I started coming here after I had jacked my hair up, chopped it off, was still dealing with the ridiculous shedding and breakage and buying any and all products that I saw in magazines and on TV. Then, off in the distance I saw a tiny beacon of light that is LHCF and my hair is the HEALTHIEST THAT ITS EVER BEEN!!!!! AND NOW IT'S GROWING!!!!

I'm a very happy camper!!! Thank you!!!!
