I'd like my edges to look smoother/neater/tamer when I'm many weeks post relaxer

I agree that the castor oil and the mango butter works to flatten my hair too. I also use rusk sensories hair smoother on shampoo day. I tie the scarf down as it dries the edges stay flat until touch up time or next shampoo.

RZ~

I usually put a fabric headband on as soon and I finish combing through my leave-ins/moisturizers and leave it on until my hair is almost dry. Keeps my edges tame until I wash again :yep:

When I got beyond ten weeks this was a big problem for me. I tried the castor oil, the mango butter, qhetmets soft gel, etc. Basically, I could tie it with a scarf and it would stay down, BUT nothing got those 4b edges "smooth". I eventually gave up and just learned to deal with it. The only thing that smoothes these edges is the creamy crack.

On wet hair apply mousse and smooth it with a scarf/headband and when it's 60-70% dry add a pomade or serum for shine.

Last longer than mango butter or oil because it dries that way and the mousse keeps it in place.

I alternate between EQP Mango butter, aloe vera gel and Fantasia IC gel. No matter what I use, I apply it to damp edges and smooth w/a toothbrush then put on a scarf for about 15 minutes. Works wonders!

Interesting (at the bolded) -- may have to try this idea, thanks! I just sorta goop it on with my fingers and hope for the best.

I love this method because you can make sure the edges get really smooth w/o messing up your style, plus a toothbrush is super soft.

Just for Me Medium hold smoothing gel :grin::grin::grin:. I use it on my edges and "kitchen" and would be lost w/o it.

Here are the step by step instructions I use:

1. Your product of choice rubbed between your hands and smoothed onto your edges - I use diluted gel plus oil/pomade or just oil pomade if I am wearing my hair straight

2. A soft hair brush - I use a very soft baby hair brush or a verrrry soft man's brush. A SOFT tooth brush would work too.

3. This is the key! Tie down tight with a silk scarf for as long as possible. Fold it into a narrow headband if you don't want the rest of your hair smoothed down as well.

HTH!
