I DID IT!!!!!...............

Have you purposely set out to tease everyone? BC already! Do it ! Do it! Do it!

:poke::poke::poke: That's what I thought about when I read that post:grin: ......I am not going to be a serial transitioner; I promise I won't! It's just that I only have about 7 or 8 inches of NG (shoot, it may be only 6 or 7) and I want to gain some NG before doing a BC. I just have way too many relaxed ends right now.

I promise you when I decide the BC though, the title of the thread won't be "I DID ITt!!!", instead it will be "I DID IT FOR REAL!!!"

Your hair looks wonderful! Great progress with your transition! I noticed that my new growth looks much shinier than my relaxed ends when I flat iron, also. Seeing your length makes me slightly wish that I hadn't kept my hair trimmed at APL throughout my transition.

Awww you did a GREAT job and that's only your first attempt too!!
And girl, from what I can see in your pics your body is on point!!!:yep:

You did a great job!

I want to follow your transition closely because of that up close NG pic; reminds me of what I can see of my natural texture. When I look at the baby pic in my avi I still can't really tell what it is like grown out because mom had it brushed and oiled up in that picture.

I want to add a few tips you might find helpful.

When I want to flat iron, I put my hair back in a ponytail or pigtails (banded), after I wash, until the front airdries. I'll use serum and BBD Glass to help that part lay down nice and flat while it is still wet. After the front is dry (actually, my whole head) then I go ahead and blow dry the rest out, and flat iron.

There is something about letting the hair up front airdry straight that makes it more silky to me when I flat iron. I am relaxed, but it still applies to the NG I get between relaxers.

And I understand your challenge with appliances. I had gotten pretty good at straightening my hair with one big barrel curling iron. Then had to get used to a big ole' fat paddled flat iron. Now, I have this eensy, lightweight, super hot flat iron that you really are only supposed to use one hand with :nono:. Boy I am scared of that thing. I have already burned my thumb twice last time I used it. It does take practice!

You look great!! Nice job.

Thank you!

I am trying to just keep mine a little past BSL, but I am seriously thinking about doing a mini-chop pretty soon.

I can't wait until my natural hair grows out like yours.
I just can't say goodbye to my relaxed hair though :nono:.
How did you transition for so long without breakage?

Nope, not a BC! (sawwry)
But I finally blow dried and flat ironed my hair all by myself. I am soooo proud of myself. I have stalked people's fotkis and they make it look soooooo easy, but ya'll, I am heat appliance challenged, so this is HUGE for me!

(thanks Allandra for answering my 50-11 questions)

I DC overnight with ORS, mixed with a little amla oil. Then I conditioned this morning. When I got out of the shower, I wrang my hair out (didn't use a towel) and just let it hang dry for a little bit (2nd pic). Then I used Elasta QP Oil Recovery on my scalp. I sectioned it in 4 parts and put a little lacio lacio on each section, Then I sprayed it with John Frieda's Heat protectant spray.

After running all around town this morning trying to find an attachment for my blow dryer (I don't know how I managed to have 2 dryers and NEVER use them; must have gotten them for about $5 or something from Big Lots and couldn't refuse it). When it was apparent that I couldn't find an attachment to fit, I concluded that the dryer with the pic attachment wouldn't be the best choice for me anyway; I had to have something that was ergonomically friendly:grin:, so I figured that blow dryer with the attachment that looked like a comb would be better anyway.

Anywho, it took me 45 minutes to blow dry and 45 minutes to flat iron. (I used my Maxiglide) There are still a few waves in the top but they will straighten out either when I wrap it or moisturize and use the flexirods. I didn't want to keep going back over it with the flat iron.

I was really proud of myself b/c I thought I was going to have to pack lunch and dinner to take upstairs with me, since I didn't think I would be coming back down any time soon:grin: I am going to moisturize it really well tonight and use my big jumbo flexi rods; the last time I had some of the relaxed ends clipped off was in January....I may go back this week to get some more clipped. The self imposed layers I tried in oct. or nov. of last year are really bugging me.

(O.K. I am coming back to resize these pics before my thread gets deleted; I didn't realize they were so large even though I edited them in photobucket to thumbnail size:ohwell:)

When I look at the baby pic in my avi I still can't really tell what it is like grown out because mom had it brushed and oiled up in that picture. Are you transitioning or thinking about it? The pic in your avi reminds me of one of my earlier ones too! Before I started getting it straightened, I can remember when I was about 5 or 6 and my mother "greasing" my hair up and brushing it and it looked like that. Ahhh, the good ole days!!!

I want to add a few tips you might find helpful.

That is good to know b/c Lord knows, I need all the help I can get. Forgot all about the banding.

I have already burned my thumb twice last time I used it. It does take practice! Luckily for me, the maxiglide makes it almost impossible to burn yourself, but I keep saying that if I tried to go old school like my mom and use a straightening comb, I would definitely end up minus a few fingers!

You look great!! Nice job.
Thanks again!

Thanks! It felt good about being to do the whole nine with rollersetting, but it was a different story when it came to flat ironing. Congrats on your accomplishment! How often will you be doing that?

I can't say goodbye to mine either:nono: but I am sure there will be some point where I will have to kiss them goodbye:wave:. I am in love:love: with my NG but there will be a point where my love for my NG will outweigh my love for my relaxed ends. It's at that point when the relaxed ends will go.

I think a lot of deep conditioning and being really gentle with my hair has led to no breakage.

I love your natural texture. You're doing really well with the transition. You also did a wonderful job of blowdrying and flat ironing!
