Nope, not a BC! (sawwry)
But I finally blow dried and flat ironed my hair all by myself. I am soooo proud of myself. I have stalked people's fotkis and they make it look soooooo easy, but ya'll, I am heat appliance challenged, so this is HUGE for me!

(thanks Allandra for answering my 50-11 questions)

I DC overnight with ORS, mixed with a little amla oil. Then I conditioned this morning. When I got out of the shower, I wrang my hair out (didn't use a towel) and just let it hang dry for a little bit (2nd pic). Then I used Elasta QP Oil Recovery on my scalp. I sectioned it in 4 parts and put a little lacio lacio on each section, Then I sprayed it with John Frieda's Heat protectant spray.

After running all around town this morning trying to find an attachment for my blow dryer (I don't know how I managed to have 2 dryers and NEVER use them; must have gotten them for about $5 or something from Big Lots and couldn't refuse it). When it was apparent that I couldn't find an attachment to fit, I concluded that the dryer with the pic attachment wouldn't be the best choice for me anyway; I had to have something that was ergonomically friendly:grin:, so I figured that blow dryer with the attachment that looked like a comb would be better anyway.

Anywho, it took me 45 minutes to blow dry and 45 minutes to flat iron. (I used my Maxiglide) There are still a few waves in the top but they will straighten out either when I wrap it or moisturize and use the flexirods. I didn't want to keep going back over it with the flat iron.

I was really proud of myself b/c I thought I was going to have to pack lunch and dinner to take upstairs with me, since I didn't think I would be coming back down any time soon:grin: I am going to moisturize it really well tonight and use my big jumbo flexi rods; the last time I had some of the relaxed ends clipped off was in January....I may go back this week to get some more clipped. The self imposed layers I tried in oct. or nov. of last year are really bugging me.

(O.K. I am coming back to resize these pics before my thread gets deleted; I didn't realize they were so large even though I edited them in photobucket to thumbnail size:ohwell:)

O.K. someone PLEASE tell me how to resize these? What did I not do? When I resized them (several times), it showed that the changes were made and that they were thumbnail size; I thought they were going to be the size of my avatar:ohwell:

Sorry for the "in your faceness" cause I know it sure is in mine:ohwell:

:lachen:I sawwwwrrrrrry! Maybe I will be able to come in here one day (in the distant future, not the near:grin:) to make that announcement. But I am thinking about getting a mini chop sometime this week (maybe about 3 or 4 inches.)

(I have more relaxed ends than I realized so a BC is not in order right now)

You thought I had completely crossed 100% over to the natural side?
I wish! I have way too many relaxed ends than I thought, so I just need to get a little more NG before I think about that. (but the relaxed ends really do get in my way though:ohwell:)

You did a fantastic job girlie!:yep: So does this mean I don't have to send you my flat iron anymore and I can bring it to you so you can show me how to use it right!

WOW B! You have a LOT of natural hair on your head! It looks so much thicker than the relaxed part. You did a great job with the straightening - your hairdresser won't be too happy about that:yep:!!

You are absolutely right; the NG is much, much thicker! As I would pull a section of hair straight to flat iron it, I could just feel the thickness of the NG compared to the relaxed part. The other thing I noticed too is that the NG had a higher sheen (when flat ironed) than the natural part (does that make sense?)

Oh don't worry about the hairdresser; he will be fine. It's my brother. I only go to him for trims, and he knows I don't do anything besides rollerset my hair, but he may just wonder who flat ironed it though b/c he knows I don't really know how.

No, you still need to put it in the mail to send to me (so you won't use it)
I can't show you how to use it other than to say "don't" use it. What I did hardly qualifies as knowing how to use a flat iron; girl just experimenting......

I love the texture of your NG. How long have you been transitioning? Its been four months for me and its going well. How has it been for you?

Generally speaking at this point 10-14 weeks or so. But I've changed some stuff in my reggie and regular care so I'm hoping for *fingers crossed* twice a year or so in the future. I don't use heat really and do a lot of tying my hair with scarves and things when my edges get super fuzzy.

My big goal is the relaxer 2 times a year and to learn to roller set properly so I can wear curls too.

I used to relax bone straight but it really doesn't suit me. I don't like my hair too straight and when it gets long like yours I want my big hair.

Yeah I totally understand. Can't wait for your natural hair to be at the same length as your relaxed hair. It will be so big, healthy and thick - jealous:lick:.

Lawd have mercy, woman ... you 'bout gave me a heart attack! I thought you cut all that beautiful hair off! Glad to see it's still there.

I'm happy for you that you did your own hair. I'm 13 months into my own transition, and I'm trying to be less reliant upon stylists too. Therefore, my next blow dry / flat iron session will be one that I do myself. I may have to bombard YOU with 50-11 questions.

Again ... congrats!

When you figure out how to rollerset natural/texlaxed hair, give me a shout:grin: I have seen 100% naturals do a bang up job at rollersetting and I just only wish!

My hair gets big now (when dry) even with the relaxed ends; can't wait for it to be completely BIG!!!

:lick:That will be a great day!!! Girl it doesn't even have to be as long as my relaxed hair; I just want a little bit more of it (natural) so I can go on and take the bold move to do away with the relaxed ends:ohwell:

Big, healthy and thick sounds good to me!!

You did a very nice job with the flatiron! :yep::up:

Thanks! Thank you also for answering my questions about products for wash and go's. I was enjoying them so much that I really didn't want to go through all the trouble to blow dry and flat iron. To be honest with you, I will probably be washing my hair by Tuesday or Wednesday; it's dying for water already:grin:

No, had I really done a BC, girl that would have given ME a heart attack!!!
I really haven't gone to stylists that much in the last 15 months (my 2 or 3 times) because I have enjoyed experimenting and trying new stuff on my own.

Congrats on being 13 months! I don't mind about the questions b/c lord knows I am always bugging everyone else about stuff and they are always so kind to help, so I definitely don't mind returning the favor to someone else.

Gorgeous. Love the color and length and thickness :)

What's your goal length wise?

Thanks!

I eventually want to cut all the relaxer out and finally just be at BSL when in its natural state. I guess just like the picture in my avatar, except curly. I don't know what that length would be straightened.

I will be stretching for quite some time until this happens. The thing is that I don't really know how tight my curls will be once I cut the relaxed ends off b/c the relaxed ends are pulling the curls down right now:ohwell:, so there is really no way that I would do a BC until I for sure knew what to expect of my natural hair (lengthwise)..........

This is for right now; if the relaxed ends really get to me, I might have to choppy-chop!
