I really want to flat iron my hair to check length. I have not used direct heat at all this year. Do u think that it is ok to do it once a month. I am under my heating cap right now DCing for 30min. What u ladies think

Well I flat ironed my hair for the first time last friday with my new maxiglide! I loved it, the steam feature is the best.

I say you will be be fine! Use a good heat protectant. IMO is better and safer than blow drying, as flat ironing layed my cuticles flat and i got tons of shine . With one or two passes and a flat iron of newer technology you should be fine. Just dont abuse it . I didnt blow dry my hair first ( i dont own a blow dryer).

Oh an I used Beyond Straight by Maxius and Fantasia Heat spray (the pump) I put the Fantasia IC on wet hair and let it dry 95% , the I sprayed each section before i hit it with the flat iron. It wasnt sticky, greasy or heavy.

I like my ends being a tad dewy before I flat ironed.

you can dry you hair in like four braids under your hood dryer. Use that heat protectant before that too.

What flat iron are you using? What heat protectant?
