Your hair seem to be a 3c texture, nothing like my 4 a/b texture and I do not agree that it does not require a whole lot of moisturizing as I did wear my hair natural for a while and it was downright difficult for me to keep moisturized and soft and that is why I feel so strongly about this. When i was natural, I lost a lot of hair in the comb. Now had my hair been a 3c texture, I don't think that I would be bothering to relax it, at least not as often as I do now.

I thank God for the man/woman who invented the relaxer, whether good or bad, it's been extremely intrumental in making my combing efforts a whole lot easier....I hated detangling my natural hair but I utterly enjoy caring for my relaxed hair.

And yes, we do have this one thought in common and that is that both textures requires work, whether it's a little work or a lot of it, it's still work.

I totally agree! I hope no one takes offense(because I'm not directing this at anyone), but it is difficult to take care of 4a/b hair. I don't think you can truly understand my concerns unless you have it.

I also hate when someone says,"All relaxed hair will eventually fall out at a point." They really need to come here!

I will quote the LHCFer when I find it...

she actually said relaxers were good for her hair...

give me a minute... or day... I'll get it.

Anyway, I think I made my point... or actually ya'll made it for me

((PUSHING MY AGENDA))

It's not good for you so why do it...

We shouldn't put it in or on our body if it's doesn't add anything

to our health. Have you read Dr. Oz's book? or Kevin Truedeau.

it's like SUGAR... sugar is bad for you but nobody wants

to stop using it because it's SOO GOOD right...

Sugar is more addictive than cocaine as demonstrated

by research... someone posted it in another thread...

same thing with relaxers... they are NOT GOOD FOR YOU.

I mean how long did it take for people to get that cigarettes were bad

that High Fructose was bad, that mineral oil was bad for hair

It's like you won't know it's bad for you until something really bad happens...

until you get smacked in the face with it...

until you read the research article about African- American hair stylists having

higher rates of cancer than any other race in that profession...

That's my point.

I'm not perfect though... just want you to see it... I'm not judging... I'm one applicator brush away from a touch up myself. Not really but you know what I mean. I'm not like anti-relaxer... well maybe a little... at the very least I think women should stretch at least 12 weeks. I'm not judging... I'm not Bishop SouthernTease... do what you want but if I at least made you think twice about it... I feel I've done my part. ((DUCES  ))

You know... this is the third or fourth thread you've posted like this pushing this agenda. There's this board called www.nappturality.com. Why don't you take your agenda there? They'd welcome you with open arms.

I don't find it particularly hard to take care of natural 4B hair. I'm cool with my naps though. I don't fight them.

I think the time I spend moisturizing and keeping them soft is no less than what many relaxed ladies go through to keep their hair nice. I admire the beautiful relaxed heads I see here, but the thought of feeling my scalp burn like Hell keeps me from wanting to relax.

ITA! I think my regimen takes the same amount if not less time than other hair textures. I do a moisturizing DC every weekend, slather on moisture every night and spray moisture on everyday. It's lack of consistency that makes hair hard to manage. Like you, I don't fight or try to disguise my naps. It is what it is. Maybe it's hard work for some and others not so much. My hair fell out in the hundreds daily with the relaxer, now that I'm natural I COUNT(yes, now I can actually count them they're so few) 15-20 hairs a day and that's no lie(lye)!

I have been relaxed, natural, and back and forth. Because my hair is short, I seriously debating going back natural after I went back relaxed after 3 months. The truth for me is My husband LOVES my kinky natural hair. I love it, too. But his past months made me realize why I don't know how goos I can be with it. Natural hair is BEAUTIfUL hair. My mother has natural WLH, my sister and I tore our hair out with the perm. But, it was because we were ignorant on hair care. Until now. To each there own. But, healthy is healthy . And great haircare makes healthy hair-permed or natural.

Why would I be offended that your 4ABhair was hard for you to manage?

My 4AB hair is pretty easy, and there are many others out there who feel the same, so I'm assuming you were speaking just for yourself, right?

i guess everyone just has different opinions on what is difficult to manage and what isnt. I respect everyones opinion on that.

whoa... i think the op could've worded this poll/thread waaay better than what was brung up. No obviously somewhat harsh chemicals are not good for your hair/you(from a health or scientific point). Most of the ladies on this board already knew this and have what they consider good reasons to continue relaxing their hair, the thread imposes on these ladies judgement towards their hair. If they choose to relax, it doesn't matter if it's good for them or not... its what they're doing. If you wanted to raise more consciousness or awareness to the dangers or risks... then thats what you should bring... not questions. Let ppl ask their own questions.

On the other hand, if the op is done with the thread (and she was a while ago) then close it or ask to have it deleted or something...

Yes, I was speaking for myself and agreeing with the person I quoted. I'm happy it is easy for you, though! :look::grin:

dont agree with OP, at the same time,
wondering why this thread is still open................:perplexed

All I have to say is the OP bet not nevah, not nevah relax cause you know this thread will get bumped.:lachen::lachen::lachen:

Lawd, I saw the elephant memory in action earlier this week, so I gotta laugh at this along witcha!:lachen: Somebody prolly subscribed to this mug for that very occasion.:lachen:

I was just wondering how many of you think relaxers are good and healthy for you and your hair? I read on a previous thread I started that some women found relaxers to be healthy/good for their hair and I was curious... are there any more of you out there?

sorry this is off topics, but CONGRATULATIONS on making APL!!! you made it. looking to be following behind you

Au contraire, mon ami . . . Our beautiful Napptural of the month for April is a 3b/3c:afro:. So, yes type 3s are "allowed" and even told their natural hair is beautiful. :yep:
Wow. I didnt know that. I thought you had to be brillo to be a member there and no other hair type was allowed.

I'm not a member there so I'll have to take your word for it. But if that is the case why bother with the disclaimer on the homepage?

Hey, chocostudent don't take my word for it. Just go actually look around the site for a minute. The Feature of the month is on the first page of the forums. (she even admits to occasionally having to straighten her hair for work purposes and she wasn't thrown to us nappy wolves. hehe) And there are other members with type 3 hair. I've seen them post in the hair threads. I didn't think there was a disclaimer that other hair types were not allowed. I know it says that the site focuses on tightly coiled hair because it can be the least liked of all hair types. I can go back and read it because honestly my bookmark goes sr8 to the forums.

Just 1 thing to add:
OP you are arrogant.
Reading your responses, ok I can sort of see your point but why you gotta talk to people like your better than them? perlease... is half your hair not still relaxed anyway? If you were so against it why not cut off the rest of the relaxed bits? Then maybe what your saying could be taken a bit more seriously. (its like pot calling kettle black if you get what I mean).
Thats all!

For sure... I was a relaxed hair model for AVLON/KERA CARE. See my siggy that APRIL '07 pic is pre-LHCF. I always had healthy hair. Choosing to transition was more for my physical health rather than for the health of my hair.

wow, I did not know this. Your hair is very pretty btw.

I was under that impression as well. Not so much that another hair typed isnt "allowed", but the main emphasis is on 4a-z.
