Unrefined. That means it's pure and no heat has been used to extract the oil so nothing is lost due to too much heat. EVOO(olive oil) is heavier than coconut oil. Much heavier. Coconut oil is easily absorbed. Soooooo, if you want maximum coverage for a longer time, use EVOO. If you don't plan on washing your hair that day use coconut oil. It seals but gets absorbed much quicker. This is just from my hair experiences, maybe someone else has something different....

Wow Naturalgurl this was very informative!
I don't know if that's good or bad. I spend a lot of time here and I have so much oils and other stuff for my hair at home! My friends say I have a problem.![]()
Coconut oil penetrates the best... but I guess the question was really about sealing..
I just bought coconut oil. . . it seems like it would do much more for me in the summer. it smells nice, and it it is very light, but I need something industrial strength right now. evoo has been giving me the seal i need in the winter. . . walkin across campus from 8am-5pm. i need SOMETHING to cut on that wind damage.but like they said evoo is heavy. . . maybe I like heavy. . . for my rollersets, I set with a little evoo and a little castor oil. but it takes FOREVER for my rollersets to dry with it. . . but i do them early at night so by work/class time I am good to go.
I like them both for general usage on my hair but if I had to choose one for sealing my ends, I would choose organic virgin coconut oil because it is lighter and it does not weigh my hair down like evoo. I really like Dabur Vatika oil for sealing too(Indian coconut oil). YUM YUM!!!
I have Dabur Vatika oil!! I was not sure if it was effective as reg coconut or olive oil. I'm still doing my research. Which do you prefer?
Cieramichele, to be honest I wasn't aware of the diff. until now. I think I'm leaning toward the coconut oil. A lady was telling me that the best moisturizer was water sealed with olive oil. So now I have all these questions. thanks for your suggestion.
So what about using plain ol olive oil and not EVOO? Since the EVOO is so heavy. I'm just trying to pick the right sealant. But coconut oil sounds good and seems to be the winner. Any opinions?
EVOO gives me moisture like none other but coconut oil gives incomparable shine. Olive oil has given me better results on wet hair and coconut oil has given better results on dry hair.
