I never tried to do it on my own hair but have been to many Domincan salons. They wash & rollerset the hair and then blow dry the dry hair to be much straighter. When I was having it done, it always looked like I got a fresh relaxer even if I was 10 - 12 weeks post.

Many salons will also just blow out the roots (upon request) instead of the entire head.

SO - Are you saying that they rollerset - Then put a blow dryer on roots????

Yep, exactly! It's to straighten out the roots to match the relaxed texture. For naturals they probably get the whole head blown out?

There is a video of blowing out the roots on healthytextures.com

I really want to get a dominican blowout, but I don't know of any good salons near me. :nono: I'm from the houston area any suggestions.

I've actually never gotten a dominican blowout in America. When I went to DR, a few years ago, I discovered that they did this. They blew out my roots so straight, I lovedddd it! That plus the warmth definataly made my hair grow.

Make sure to read the posts for pros and cons against this straightening method...

Curious. Why do you think that made your hair grow? That sounds like a lot of heat (damage).
